His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state John Jonah Gboribiogha (Rtd) has declared that the State has the capacity to carry out oil exploration activities if duely engaged by the federal government.

The Deputy Governor who was speaking on the issue of the proposed modular refineries for the Niger Delta region, expressed the state government’s commitment to dialogue and superior reasoning on capacity and strength of the state towards actualising the functional running of refineries in the state.

Rear Admiral John Jonah made this known during the annual public lecture of the Nigerian Society of Engineers held in Yenagoa with the theme “From Illegal Refineries To Modular Refineries, Challenges And Prospects “.

Members and reporters at the event also used the opportunity to call on the federal government to collaborate with the society of engineers in partnership with the IOC’S to enable indigenes benefit and partake in oil refining activities.

They also called on the federal government to improve on and legalise existing illegal refineries to facilitate job opportunities.
