Bayelsa State Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw Affairs, Wednesday at the Bayelsa House (Izon-Wari) Abuja, held a civic reception in honour of the Bayelsa Cultural Troupe that represented Nigeria and Africa at the just-concluded K-POP World Festival in South Korea.
The commissioner who was represented by Barrister Pretty Ekpe commended the troupe for making Bayelsa State and the Izon Nation proud having emerged second out of the 12 nations that participated at the event.
His words: “We have a Governor in the person of Hon. Seriake Dickson who is a passionate crusader of the Ijaw national interest, so you can be assured of the state government’s commitment to support you to a greater height”.
Speaking at the occasion, the manager of the troupe, Solomon Ayebakipreye Suobo, stated that their success wouldn’t have been possible if not for God and the dedication of the team”.
He said despite some financial challenges they encountered before and after the event, his boys were in high spirit”.
“Unlike the popular belief that youths of Bayelsa and the Niger Delta are restive, my team has proven that our youths are hardworking and talented’, Solomon said.
The team manager also commended the South Korean Embassy for their support during the period.
The Captain of the troupe, Dennis William, thanked the State Government for the warm reception accorded them and promised to improve in subsequent .
