Hafsoh Isiaq, Osogbo
A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Tuesday, remanded the leader of a Muslim sect Jafariyah, Ishaq Yusuf (49) and one AbdulKarim Adeoti (55), for alleged murder.
The accused persons were arraigned on three count charges bordering on conspiracy, killing and indecent interference with human body.
The prime suspect in the killing of the student, Zakariyahu, had confessed that he was living with the leader of Jafariyah and he stole the account book he wanted to use in his room.
According to the charge sheet: “that you, Ishaq Yusuf and AbdulKarim Adeoti, on the 26th June, 2017, at about 2100hrs, at Oke-Baale area, Osogbo, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit murder: and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 324 of the criminal code cap 34, vol 11, laws of Osun state, 2002.
“That you, at the aforementioned place and time, did unlawfully kill one Timilehin Oluwafemi Sonibare by hitting him with a pestle on his head which caused his death and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of the law.
“You did improperly or indecently interfere with a dead human body by cutting off the head, hands and other part of the deceased and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section (242) (1) (b) of the criminal law.
However, the plea of the accused persons were not taken as Magistrate M. A. Awodele directed counsel to the accused persons, Kazeem Badmus, to file formal application for their bail.
She thereby adjourned the case to September 25, 2017, for mention.
