Bayelsa State Governor, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has described Dr. (Mrs.) Nneoma Rochas Okorocha, wife of the Imo State Governor, as a wonderful woman and a great pillar of support to her husband.
Governor Dickson, while paying glowing tributes to the Imo State First Lady on Saturday in Owerri during her 50th birthday celebration, said she is a mother that is committed to service within Imo State and beyond.
Dickson, who chaired the event, said in a press release by his Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Daniel Alabrah, that Mrs. Okorocha has proved herself to be a great family woman and an exceptional mobiliser of the womenfolk.
“Nneoma Okorocha has done well as a family woman and good supporter of her husband. That is why you see the Imo State governor always smiling and happy. I therefore bring you great felicitations from my wife, the good people of Bayelsa and the South South in my capacity as chairman of the South South Governors Forum,” he said.
He added that, it is good to celebrate those that are doing well irrespective of political affiliations, even as he noted that, the occasion had a preponderance of leaders from one side of the political divide, in reference to chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came to celebrate the wife of one of its leaders.
The Bayelsa governor, however, said that, most of the APC leaders at the event were actually on sabbatical from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and that it was only a matter of time before they returned to their first home.
The event, which was preceded by the commissioning of the WODDI Wellness and Diagnostics Centre, a project embarked upon by Mrs. Okorocha’s non-governmental organisation, Women of Divine Destiny Initiative, attracted dignitaries including Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who was represented by Mrs. Gimbiya Yakubu Dogara, wife of Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Other dignitaries included wives of incumbent and former state governors, the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, his Labour and Productivity counterpart, Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Onwuka, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija as well as leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
