HIPCITY HUB, YiSHDA Sign MoU For Collaboration On Youth Enterprise Support /Development Matters

HipCity Hub and Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa has signed signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration on developing programs, projects and activities tied on youth enterprise support and development, leadership capacity building and mentoring for 2 years. 

The signing ceremony, which was conducted in Abuja on the 7th May 2018, seeks for promotion of skills among youths, promotion of leadership and entrepreneurship among youths through capacity building and knowledge transfer, mentoring and technical assistance geared towards youth actualization of self and to the overall benefit of community development as the base of societal development and overall nation building.

Reacting before the formal signing of the MoU, the Executive Director and Co-founder of HipCity Hub, Mr Bassey Bassey noted that the power of partnership was germane to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030). Mr Bassey Bassey said the MoU between HipCity Hub and YiSHDA signals the birth of a new frontier for Nigerian youths, saying that it is somewhat rare to find organizations going into partnerships because everyone seem to be more concerned with who takes the glory rather than focus on creating and adding values to the lives of Nigerian youths, this action he said authenticates the goal of SDG 17 which seeks to enshrine partnerships.

In his closing remark, Mr Bassey appreciated YiSHDA for their giant strides in closing the gap between theory and practice and conveyed his believe that the partnership will be mutually beneficial to both organizations and the Nigerian youths, and that Nigerians should look out for the achievements that is about to be recorded in the next two years due to this partnership.

The Chief Executive Officer of YiSHDA Mr Joseph Emmanuel Yaba in his short speech registered his excitement about the partnership, alluding that he has personally benefited from partnerships and that having gone through the profile of HipCity Hub he has no reservations whatsoever that the partnership is a good decision to take and that he can already visualize the future.
Mr Joseph Emmanual said YiSHDA has a strong mandate to promote business enterprise development among youths agreeing that a wealthy nation is one that the youths who are the livewire of every society have the right skills to create wealth and that there are also available decent jobs and right business environment for them.

According to Mr Joseph, the partnership between HipCity Hub and YiSHDA was informed on the imperative need to groom youths into catalyst of solutions and launch them into the society to effect social change in business, politics and general well-being of the society

The scope of the MoU also includes to:

• Conduct research and development projects towards empowering young people
• Identify policies and programs of government that needs review for the overall good of the Nigerian youth through engagement with key stakeholders.
• Create awareness on skills acquisition (soft skills, technical and vocational)
• Organize training workshops and seminars and other promotional activities in Nigeria towards the empowerment of the Nigerian youth
• Liaise with government agencies, external organizations, local NGOs to actualize set targets.
