NIPSS On Study Visit To Force Headquarters, Abuja

The Senior Executive Course 40, Group 6 participants of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos paid a study visit to the Force Headquarters Abuja on Tuesday, 10th April 2018.

Explaining the mission of the Course 40, Group 6 to the audience, the DG,NIPSS and Leader of Delegation, Jonathan M. Juma said the purpose of the study visit is to build capacities of Participants with appropriate knowledge and experience to address the problems facing the country especially security challenges through Community Policing.

He further said that the other group member are visiting other security agencies of which a common report on the visit will be compiled and submitted to President Buhari in November 2018.

In his response, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DIG Shuaibu Lawal Gambo who represented the Inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris thanked the participants for the study tour.

He said community policing has come to stay in Nigeria. He further said without security, there can’t be progress in Nigeria.

DIG Shuaibu Lawal Gambo promised the participants a fruitful study and useful report at the end of the visit.

National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Nigeria is a policy formation center for bureaucrats, private sector leaders, Army officers, and medium-rank and senior civil servants, which was founded in 1979. Most policymakers in Nigeria have attended the NIPSS.

The Institute is a high- level center for reflection, research and learning, with the primary objective of serving as the nationa��s foremost policy a�?think- tanka��, developing a crop of top class technocrats of high intellectual capacity, conceptualise and anchor the implementation of innovative and dynamic policy initiatives and strategies critical for national development.

The Senior Executive Course lasts for 10 months, from February to November, each year and covers broadly such areas as:

  • Foundation and Cultural Studies.
  • Research methodology.
  • Policy and Strategic Studies.
  • The Domestic Environment.
  • Regional Studies (Local and International).
  • Defence and Security (Domestic, Regional and International).
  • International Relations and International organizations.
  • Science and Technology
  • Peace and Conflict/ Crisis Management
