A Former Pharmacist of the Federal Medical Center Keffi (FMC) Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya has asked the APC Appeal Panel, State Working Committee of APC and NASIEC to annul the recent primaries of All Progressive Congress (APC) of Toto LGC and conduct another fresh one.
In a petition filed at the party Secretariat on Thursday 12th April 2018, Pharm. Yahaya urged the party to conduct another primaries in strict compliance with the party’s electoral guidelines and constitution.
He is also seeking an order restraining the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) from accepting any chairmanship candidate of the APC for the 26th May 2018 chairmanship polls until fresh primaries is conducted.
It will be recalled that the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Balarabe action resulted in the culmination of protests by Pharm. Yahaya, who has alleged irregularities in the 9th April 2018 primaries in which the process of counting was disrupted.
The Speaker was allegedly masterminded the disruption when he ordered all pressmen out of the venue that he was directed from above to do the counting and declaration of the winner of the election in Lafia, the State capital which was against the electoral guidelines Article 14 of the APC.
The Speaker comment warranted Pharm. Yahaya and his agent Hon. Abubakar Adamu Daura and member representing Toto/Gadabuke constituency Hon. Saidu Galadima Shafa to strongly objected to his comment and insisted the votes must be counted and winner be declared in line with the party guidelines.
Subsequently, the returning officers worked out of the venue and security details attached to the Speaker picked up the ballots box containing the casted votes and enter official vehicle of the speaker immediately left the venue.
The electorates and others resisted, as a result of which the said security aides were order to shoot, leading to three persons hit by bullets who are now hospitalized at a critical condition.
All this happened in the presence of the Toto Divisional Police Officer and others high ranking security personnel.
