The Osun State Police Command on Monday arraigned two middle aged men Adegoke Atanda and Adegbola Obey before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing six live chickens.
The accused persons are arraigned before Magistrate Fatimah Sodamade on a two count charge bothering on theft and conspiracy.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Gafari Musilim briefed the court that the accused persons committed the offense on 10th of February, 2018 at about 10:00pm at Olu Alabi farm Oke-Onitea area, in Osogbo.
Gafari said the accused persons conspired among themselves and stole six life chickens valued N9,600 without the owner’s consent.
He also explained that the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Sections 516, 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vole II laws of osun state, 2003.
The accused persons , however, pleaded not guilty to the court two count charge preferred against them.
The Defense Counsel, Okobe Nagite prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Sodamade, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N20,000 and one surety in the like sum.
Sodamade said the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and three passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means and should be confirmed by the police.
She thereafter adjourned the case till March 1, 2018 for hearing.
