Police Arraign Woman For Alleged Theft

The Osun State Police Command on Monday arraigned a 42 year old woman, Funmilayo James before an Osogbo magistrate court over alleged theft.

Funmilayo, is facing a three count allegations of stealing, conspiracy and receiving of stolen items valued at N420 000, knowing fully well to be stolen items.

She was alleged to have received cosmetics, foodstuffs, red oil, can drinks, factory made cloths, Ghana Kampala, Abeokuta Kampala and Hollandia Ankara, valued at N420,000 property of one Kikelomo Badmus and Ayuba Salamotu from one Rashidi Asimiyu.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun, argued before the court that the offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 427, 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34. Volume II laws of Osun State, 2003.

Funmilayo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her.

Counsel to the accused person, Barrister Lekan Olayiwola prayed the court to grant bail to his client in the most liberal terms.

The Chief Magistrate, Fatima Sodomade in her ruling, granted the accused person bail of N200 000 with one surety in Like sum and adjourned the case till the 19th of December.
