Arrangements have been completed to inaugurate a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Prince Adetokunbo Kayode as the 10th President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has been named as the Special Guest of Honour for the occasion while the National President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Iyalode Alaba Lawson is to Chair the event scheduled to take place Tuesday, 23rd January at the International Conference Centre , Abuja.
Prince Kayode, who holds the National Title of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) was also a cabinet Minister in the federal executive council of Nigeria in four capacities namely: Justice and Attorney-General of the federation; Culture and Tourism; Defence as well as Labor and Productivity.
A statement from the Chairman of the inauguration committee, who is also the Second Deputy President of the Chamber, Barr. Emeka Obegolu explained that during the ceremony, there will also be a dinner hosting the diplomatic community in the country.
The 10th President succeeded Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye whose single 3-year tenure ended last month.
The legal luminary is to pilot the affairs of the chamber for the next three years and also to bring his wealth of experience both in public and private sectors to bear on the modus operandi of the chamber.
He joined the Chamber in 1989. Over time, he served in various capacities: as council member, Vice President Commerce, Vice President Industry and Vice President Legal services.
In 2007, he resigned as Vice President, Legal Services on being appointed as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Umaru Yar’Adua of blessed memory. He however returned to the Chamber as 2nd Deputy President after leaving government in 2011 of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
