The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has finally joined the presidential race towards 2019 Presidential Election.
Tambuwal accompanied by his aides arrived at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja, at about 6 p.m. to pick the party’s Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the 2019 presidential election.
Aminu Tambuwal, in his submission, averred that considering his antecedents, he has the capacity to confront the ruling party , the APC and the party’s presidential candidate.
Tambuwal who promised to ensure that the herdsmen/farmers crisis in some parts of the country is ‘very comprehensively’ addressed and resolved, also expressed hope the party would conduct credible primaries should the aspirants fail to go for the idea of a consensus candidate.
“I can’t say there is no need for consensus because it is part of the democratic process. If there is a possibility for it, why not? If it is not possible, then we all go for the primaries. But, I believe that the PDP of today is capable of organizing free, fair, credible and transparent primaries’ he said.
Tambuwal also had his name featured as a presidential aspirant for the first time in 2014 but he ultimately settled for the Sokoto state guber seat.
