The APC in Rivers State said they have been vindicated by her statement that PDP has been rejected by Rivers people. The very low turn out of the just concluded Local Government election indicated, that Rivers people did not only reject the LGA election but also rejected the PDP.
In a press release signed by the Rivers State APC Chairman, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, he said the SHAM LGA election which recorded less than 20 percent turn out voters across the state, in an election that is PDP versus PDP, shows that PDP is less than 20 percent of registered voters in Rivers State.
“This reaffirms our earlier position, that the PDP could not have won election in Rivers State during the 2015 election, but for the federal might used against us which led to the emergence of Wike as Governor. Thank God, that Rivers people has began to realise themselves despite all the lies been peddled by Gov. Wike and his cohorts. We are happy, that gradually, PDP is fading away like the stars of the morning in Rivers State.
“We as a law abiding party, can not join in the illegality of Gov Wike which has become his stock in trade. We are not perturbed by Gov Wike’s antics because we are confident that our duly elected Local Government Chairmen and Councillors, will soon go back to their offices. We have said it before and we are saying it again, that we stand by our duly elected Local Government Chairmen and Councillors and therefore, we can not participate in any other illegal local government election which Gov Wike want to use to secure cheap popularity as he has been rejected by Rivers people.
“We charge Rivers people to rise up to expectations by taking a decision (like they took in the just concluded SHAM local government election, by refusing to participate in the illegal local government election) that come May 2019, Gov Wike must go out of Rivers State Government House.
“We thanked Rivers people for their rejection of both PDP and the sham local government election and urged them to be law abiding because very soon, justice shall prevail.
