The Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, has announced three national winners of the 2023 World Post Day Letter Writing Competition.
Sunday Adepoju, Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO, NIPOST, disclosed this on Monday in his statement commemorating the 2023 WPD.
Adepoju revealed that over 2,966 entries were received from secondary school students across Nigeria for the competition, but only three emerged winners.
He explained that three winners were handed an N225,000 cash prize.
“Serena Giovanni Emephal of St. Brigids Girls Grammar School, Delta State, Okpunu Benita Ebanehita of Baridoo Comprehensive College, Lagos Island, Lagos State, and Uche Nneke of Shalom Academy Nsukka, Enugu State, emerged as the three overall national winners. Winning the cash prizes of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000), Seventy-five Thousand Naira (N75,000) and Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) only, respectively”, he stated.
The Postmaster general reiterated NIPOST’s commitment to providing Nigerians affordable, reliable, and tech-driven services.
“As we celebrate, we are not relenting to do more. We are committed to delivering our services with speed, efficiency, and professionalism while maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
“As we mark World Post Day today, we also remember the founders of the postal union, who envisioned a world where communication and postal services would bring us closer together”, he said.
October 9th is the anniversary of creating the Universal Postal Union, UPU, in 1874.
