The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a Pre-Enrolment Portal aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing user experience in the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process.
In a statement issued on Friday by Kayode Adegoke, the commission’s spokesperson, announced that the digital platform allows applicants, both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora, to capture and submit their biodata online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture. According to the Commission, the initiative is designed to reduce congestion and waiting time at enrolment centres nationwide.
NIMC said the portal is part of its broader digital transformation strategy and reflects the commitment of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, to strengthen institutional performance through technology-driven solutions. The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises efficient public service delivery, digital innovation, and inclusive national development.
Key features of the Pre-Enrolment Portal include online capture and management of biodata prior to biometric enrolment, appointment scheduling to minimise overcrowding, improved data accuracy through self-entry by applicants, secure handling of personal information, and seamless upload of required supporting documents.

The Commission noted that the portal is expected to enhance enrolment accuracy, operational efficiency, and overall service delivery, while providing a smoother and faster experience for applicants.
NIMC has encouraged all prospective NIN applicants to take advantage of the Pre-Enrolment Portal as part of efforts to build a reliable and sustainable digital identity ecosystem to support national development.
Applicants can access the portal via penrol.nimc.gov.ng
