NASENI, Nigerian Air Force Renew Strategic Partnership To Drive Indigenous Defense Technologies

0

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration on indigenous technology development, particularly in defence, aerospace, and infrastructure.

According to a press release on Saturday, 26th July 2025, signed by the Director of Information, NASENI, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, the event, which took place at NASENI Headquarters in Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja, on 25th July 2025, was marked by a high-level visit led by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, alongside senior officers from the Nigerian Air Force. The team was received by the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, and his management team.

In his keynote remarks, the Air Marshal commended NASENI for its transformative work under Mr. Halilu’s leadership, particularly in reverse engineering, local manufacturing of engineering components, and consistent support to the Nigerian Air Force.

He specifically acknowledged NASENI’s contribution to the development of the C5 Rocket Project, highlighting the agency’s role in producing the rocket bodies and structural components and in conducting precision material analysis.

He also applauded the establishment of the NASENI Northwest Technology Innovation Hub located at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna, describing it as a landmark project made possible through land support by the NAF.

The Air Marshal noted that the Air Force is seeking greater inclusion in the governance and execution of the hub, given its role as host and technical contributor, and is also proposing that NASENI formally co-own the C5 Rocket Project while urging the agency to continue leading the production of rocket body structures while exploring cost optimisations.

L-R: Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu and Chief of Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar signing an memorandum of understanding (MoU) to renew partnership to drive Indigenous defense technologies development at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Furthermore, he invited NASENI to enrol its young researchers in newly developed R&D training modules at its Research and Development Institute. The request extends to a new area of partnership—capacity building in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining for Air Force technical personnel at NASENI’s Centre of Excellence.

Responding, NASENI EVC/CEO Mr. Khalil Suleman Halilu reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to the long-standing collaboration with the Air Force, describing it as both professional and personal.

“Our partnership with the Nigerian Air Force is one of our smoothest and most productive,” he said. “We’ve achieved so much together—from reverse-engineering projects to shared innovation hubs—and we are just getting started.”

Mr. Halilu showcased NASENI’s progress in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) development, drone pilot training, asset recovery programs, and its world-class CNC machining infrastructure, inviting the Air Force to take advantage of all available resources and facilities.

He emphasised NASENI’s culture of private sector collaboration as a model for cost-effective implementation while maintaining inclusive access for public institutions such as the Air Force.

Highlighting the signing of the new MoU, Mr. Halilu said the updated agreement is designed to be more structured, result-driven, and aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It focuses on joint R&D, local manufacturing of aerospace and defence components, human capital development, and knowledge exchange.

“This partnership goes beyond paperwork,” Mr. Halilu noted. “It’s about building the future of Nigeria’s defence and innovation ecosystem together.”

The formal signing of the renewed MoU marked a new chapter in the strategic relationship between both institutions, setting the stage for the activation of joint action plans on the C5 Rocket Project, CNC training, defence manufacturing, and other innovation-driven initiatives.

Diri Tasks Universities On Made-in-Nigeria Innovations

0

……Pledges Housing Project At Alma Mater, Gets Double Honour

‎Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has implored universities to embrace technology in order to produce innovators for Nigeria.

Governor Diri also challenged policy makers and education managers to develop and update curriculum at all stages of learning to meet realities of the digital age.

He called on universities to lead the way in research that optimise made-in-Nigeria inventions and products.

A press release by his spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said the Bayelsa governor stated this on Friday at his alma mater, University of Port Harcourt, Choba, Rivers State, while delivering the 35th convocation and  50th anniversary lecture.

‎He advocated that government at all levels make budgetary allocations to adequately fund educational institutions with support from the private sector as well as interventionist and donor agencies.

‎His words: “The trajectory of my address is not intended to cast aspersions or undermine the diligent efforts our scholars and researchers have invested, but rather to encourage our institutions to adapt and mirror the current requirements of our society.

‎”Thus, we must abandon a national arrogance, one that derides artisans, sneers at traders, and views vocational skills as consolation prizes for those who could not “succeed.” This mindset is precisely why we find ourselves importing toothpicks and sharpeners.”

He stated that his administration deliberately introduced the Bayelsa Promoting Reform to Improve and Modernise Education (BayelsaPRIME) policy at the basic education level to effectively incorporate information technology in learning processes and facilitate access to digital skills among teachers and students.

‎He also stated that his government built an ICT hub in Yenagoa with the aim of empowering citizens through digital literacy.

He expressed delight that the University of Port Harcourt reached a golden age, and hoped that the next 50 years of the institution will require not merely prestige but purpose and not merely knowledge but also impact.

The governor announced that as part of his contribution to the growth of the institution, his government would embark on a staff housing project before his tenure ends.

‎The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, in his address, congratulated the 861 graduands for successfully completing their studies.

On behalf of the institution, Prof. Georgewill presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Lifetime Achievement in Education Partnership Award to Governor Diri for promoting education in Bayelsa and in recognition of his commitment to development of his alma mater.

He said Diri was among 50 distinguished alumni of the university selected for honour on its 50th anniversary.

On the governor’s entourage were his wife, Justice Patience Diri, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, other lawmakers, and the National Chairman, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Amb. Boladei Igali.

Others were members of the state executive council, including the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Peter Akpe, his deputy, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo,
General Manager of the state Housing and Property Development Authority, Dr. Tonye Isenah, and other government functionaries.

Maikaya Supports Physically Challenged Students At NSUK, Distributes Food Items To Cushion Hardship

In a heartwarming show of compassion and commitment to inclusive education, Dr. Musa Muhammad Maikaya, Chief Executive Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation and a 2027 governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended humanitarian support to physically challenged students at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

The gesture took place during a program organised by the National Association of Special Education Students, NSUK chapter, at the S.B. Mohammed Auditorium, School of Postgraduate Studies, on Friday.

Dr. Maikaya, who served as chairman of the occasion, led the distribution of food items to students with special needs, aimed at cushioning the economic hardship affecting the student community. He was accompanied by prominent figures, including former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Comrade Dogo Shammah, and the Chief Operating Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, Comrade Shuaibu Sani.

Speaking on the theme, “Breaking Barriers and Promoting People with Special Needs Inclusion in Higher Institutions,” Maikaya reiterated his foundation’s dedication to equitable education, youth empowerment, and value-driven inclusion across tertiary institutions in the state.

Dr. Maikaya, while addressing the students shortly after the program.

“The theme speaks directly to the heart of our mission at MDF,” he said. “We believe in education that leaves no one behind—not the underserved, not the overlooked, and certainly not people with special needs, whose resilience and creativity deserve recognition.”

He lamented the numerous visible and invisible barriers preventing students with special needs from accessing quality education, calling on government, institutions, civil society, and the private sector to collaborate in ensuring inclusive academic environments.

“Imagine a brilliant student who cannot enter a lecture hall because there’s no ramp, or a visually impaired learner without access to study materials in Braille. These systemic and structural issues must be addressed,” Maikaya noted.

The APC governorship hopeful also highlighted his foundation’s achievements in offering scholarships, renovating schools, introducing digital learning tools, and now expanding support to students with disabilities.

Comrade Shuaibu Sani, Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Student Matters, praised Maikaya’s gesture, noting its alignment with the current administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and educational advancement.

In a paper presentation, Prof. Babudoh and Dr. Akawu Monday from the Psychology Department emphasised the global recognition of persons with disabilities and the urgent need to mainstream their inclusion in all societal affairs.

The event also featured the official presentation of food items by Dr. Maikaya and the conferment of a humanitarian service award on him for his longstanding support to vulnerable groups and commitment to educational development in Nasarawa State.

IGP Egbetokun Applauds Celebration Of Police Officer Of The Year 2024 By Bayelsa State Governor

…Reaffirms Commitment to Professionalism, Integrity, and Merit in Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has applauded the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, for hosting a grand state banquet in honour of Superintendent of Police (SP) Sentome Obi, recipient of the 2024 Police Officer of the Year Award and the prestigious IGP Integrity Award.

According to a press release on Friday, 25th July, 2025, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the ceremony, held on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2025, in Yenagoa, highlighted a monumental gesture of support for ethical leadership in policing. SP Sentome Obi, Head of the Financial and Cybercrime Unit, Zone 16 Command, Yenagoa, earned national recognition after heroically rejecting a $17,000 bribe intended to obstruct a critical investigation. His principled conduct drew praise from both the public and the Force leadership, serving as a shining example of integrity under pressure.

In recognition of his service, Governor Diri presented SP Obi with a brand-new Toyota Corolla and a fully furnished three-bedroom bungalow—an unprecedented reward that sets a new benchmark for honouring ethical conduct in Nigeria’s public service.

Commending the gesture, IGP Egbetokun described it as a landmark moment in the quest to institutionalise integrity within the Nigeria Police Force. “This is more than a commendation; it is a cultural statement. It tells every officer that integrity is not just expected but rewarded,” the IGP stated.

L-R: Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Idu, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Governor Douye Diri, Superintendent of Police Sentome Obi, and his wife, when Obi was honoured by the state government for rejecting a bribe of $17,000 on Wednesday at Government House, Yenagoa

As part of its commitment to institutional reform, the Force Management Team, during its meeting on Monday, 23rd June 2025, resolved to recommend both SP Obi (2024 recipient) and CSP Aliyu Shaba (2023 recipient) for accelerated promotion by the Police Service Commission. The portraits of both officers will also be prominently displayed at all State and Zonal Command Headquarters, at the main entrance of the Force Headquarters (Louis Edet House, Abuja), and within the Nigeria Police Hall of Fame.

In a broader policy shift, the IGP announced that officers who win the Police Officer of the Year Award, the IGP Recognition Award, or other national commendations at least twice within two consecutive award cycles will henceforth be eligible for accelerated promotion. This initiative is designed to embed performance-based recognition within the personnel management framework of the Nigeria Police Force.

The IGP reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to reposition the Force into a modern, ethical, and accountable institution—one that upholds discipline, transparency, service, and excellence as the bedrock of its operations.

PBAT Door-2-Door Movement Congratulates New APC Chairman, Vows To Mobilize 10 Million Votes For Tinubu In 2027

A pro-Tinubu socio-political group, the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement, has extended congratulations to Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda following his recent appointment as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while pledging strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the movement described Yilwatda’s appointment as a sign of the party’s commitment to its core values and future electoral success. The group, which focuses on grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s leadership, highlighted Yilwatda’s background as an academic, humanitarian, and administrator, saying it would bolster the APC’s structures.

“We pledge our absolute allegiance to the new APC Chairman and assure him of our unwavering, rock-solid support in all endeavours to advance the progressive agenda,” the statement read.

The group, under the patronage of High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo, said it stands ready to collaborate with APC leadership to advance Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” It outlined ambitious plans to secure at least 10 million votes for the president in the upcoming elections through a series of initiatives.

These include deploying volunteers for door-to-door campaigns in all 774 local government areas, conducting voter education on Tinubu’s achievements, organising town hall meetings and rallies, and leveraging media platforms to promote the campaign message and combat misinformation.

The movement also plans targeted programs for youth and women empowerment, data-driven strategies, and partnerships with traditional leaders, religious groups, and civil society organisations.

The statement signed by Comrade Sunday Adekanbi, the National Chairman, emphasised Tinubu’s accomplishments in his first two years in office, crediting him with doubling government revenues to over 9.1 trillion naira, reducing debt service costs from 97% to 68% of revenue, and clearing substantial arrears.

It noted economic reforms that addressed over $10 billion in foreign exchange liabilities, created 240,000 jobs through MSME support, and introduced a new national minimum wage.

Additional highlights included tax reforms boosting Federal Inland Revenue Service collections to 21.3 trillion naira, increased customs revenues, and international efforts as ECOWAS chair to promote regional stability.

The group also pointed to the Presidential Loan and Grant Scheme, benefiting over 900,000 Nigerians, particularly youth.

“Our unyielding support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is rooted in his extraordinary achievements, which have already begun to steer Nigeria toward prosperity despite inherited challenges,” Adekanbi’s statement said, rejecting what it called “baseless criticism” of the administration.

The movement invited Nigerians to join its efforts, framing the 2027 campaign as a collective push for Tinubu’s vision through grassroots engagement.

Yilwatda’s appointment as APC chairman comes amid ongoing party restructuring ahead of future polls.

Anambra’s Deputy Governor Flags Off GEFAS Mobile Tech Hub, Expanding Free Solution WiFi Access

0

By Angela Nwanodu

The Geeks & Founders Alliance for Soludo (GEFAS) has taken another bold step in supporting Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of a smart, connected Anambra with the official launch of its Mobile Tech Hub- a custom-built bus bringing free WiFi directly to the people.

Fully equipped with high-speed internet, voice and data services, and backup power, the GEFAS Mobile Tech Hub can connect up to 3,000 people at rallies, campaign grounds, and public spaces: expanding the Solution WiFi initiative already live at over 26 locations across Anambra.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, flagged off the Mobile Tech Hub at a brief ceremony held on Thursday, 24th July 2025, at the Tower of Light, Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard, Awka.

He was joined by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu; the Deputy Chief of Staff/Chief Protocol to the Governor, Chief Chinedu Nwoye; other senior government officials; the media; and the GEFAS community.

Dr. Ibezim, visibly excited as he inspected the hub’s features, described it as an initiative perfectly aligned with what the Governor is doing in the state.

“We don’t expect anything less from Agbata, who is a guru in this field: exactly why the Governor puts square pegs in square holes,” he said, pointing to the sophistication of the project and the Governor’s deliberate choices.

“I hear wherever this vehicle parks, people can connect freely, in line with our mantra of making Anambra a place to live, invest, work, relax, and enjoy

“I thank Agbata for this great feat and assure our government’s support to make Anambra the smart mega city we all desire

He further emphasized that this will not be a one-off.

“Mr. Governor is also working to make this permanent. We are not just going to leave you with one vehicle. So I encourage everyone: wherever you see this bus parked, connect to the free WiFi and get your job done.” he concluded.

Earlier in his remarks, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, GEFAS Convener and MD/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, said:

“We are here to celebrate innovation made possible by Mr. Governor’s forward-thinking policies, like waiving Right of Way (RoW) charges, which opened up fibre optic expansion and connectivity across Anambra.

“Today, various public places, student lodges, and even four higher institutions in the state already enjoy free WiFi, just as Governor Soludo promised in his People’s Manifesto.

“Now, with this Mobile Tech Hub, wherever the Governor goes during the campaign period, people can enjoy free connectivity and high-speed internet.

“All over the world, we know that when broadband expands, the economy grows

He added, “Data is expensive these days, so this bus will bring relief to Ndi Anambra.

“Wherever you see it passing through your neighborhood, you can hop online for free- maybe download a movie, a song, or do whatever you like.

It’s a practical solution that the Solution Government is delivering. So, vote Governor Soludo, and let the Solution continue” Agbata concluded.

The bus is set to hit the road in the coming days, following Governor Soludo to campaign grounds and reaching far more neighborhoods in earnest.

With this milestone, GEFAS reaffirms its commitment to helping Anambra become the smart, connected, and prosperous state that every citizen can proudly call home.

Like Kayode Egbetokun Or Hate Him, He’s Nigeria’s Best IGP For Now

By Kelvin Adegbenga

In a country where public trust in law enforcement has often been shaky at best, the role of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) is not just administrative, it’s symbolic. It signals the tone, direction, and soul of the Nigeria Police Force.

And whether you’re a fan or a critic, one truth is becoming harder to ignore: Kayode Egbetokun, the current IGP, is Nigeria’s best shot at police reform and operational sanity, for now.

Egbetokun didn’t come into office with loud populist promises or the flair of a social media-savvy reformer. Instead, he’s taken a measured, calm, and strategic approach to policing that prioritizes professionalism over politics.

From improving internal discipline to engaging meaningfully with stakeholders, his leadership has started to shift the culture within the force, one that had, for too long, been riddled with inefficiency, brutality, and public distrust.

The Force under his watch has handled several volatile situations, protests, high-profile arrests, and public criticisms, with a level of restraint and coordination that speaks volumes. He’s also intensified efforts on community policing and inter-agency collaboration, which had previously been more theoretical than practical.

Of course, no IGP is perfect. Nigeria’s security challenges are deep-rooted and multifaceted. There are still pockets of rogue policing and public grievances. But compared to predecessors and the political climate in which he operates, Egbetokun stands out as a stabilizing figure in an unstable institution.

So, like him or loathe him, one cannot deny that Kayode Egbetokun is, at present, the most competent and composed IGP Nigeria has had in recent years.

His tenure might not tick every box for every critic, but if Nigeria is serious about policing reform, then giving credit where it’s due is a necessary first step.

Sometimes, leadership doesn’t scream, it quietly delivers. And that’s exactly what Egbetokun is doing.

Again, Buhari Nails Femi Adesina To The Cross

By Tunde Odesola

By some indices of human assessment, such as professionalism, intellect, carriage, humility, handsomeness, etc., the erstwhile Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari (of bitter memory), Mr Femi Adesina, was not cut from the same cloth as many of his colleague editors. There was the tale of a toad-eyed, bosomy and big-mouthed female editor of a weekend newspaper, whose pair of laser-sharp designer glasses could identify a ‘dollarful’ brown envelope in pitch darkness. She’s a Jebusite. Unhatable, oga Adesina is disarmingly different, however.

Meeting Adesina is like walking into a room scented with simplicity and kindness. Who can hate a pair of white eyes nestling on a cherubic black face with a signature haircut and an innocent smile? I can’t.

I once told the story of how I met editor Adesina. I’ll tell it a second time. Twice, I met Adesina in close quarters; twice, I learnt a lesson in humility. The first time I got in the Adesina orbit was around 15 years ago. It was at the Source, Ile-Ife, where his relative was getting married. He had invited the Publisher, Conscience International Magazine, Chief Abiola Ogundokun, who extended the invitation to Osun State newspaper correspondents, on the platter of comradeship.

Adesina didn’t turn water into wine at the marriage, which was held inside the compound of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife, but he fed us to our throats, just like Jesus fed the 5,000 multitude. While we were still picking our teeth and sipping drinks after the meal, Oga Adesina began to pack our used plates by himself, like a male servant, but some of us protested and managed to wring some of the plates from his grip. Oga Adesina, at the time, was the editor of The Sun newspaper while we were mere correspondents.

We were three correspondents at the party: The Nation state correspondent, but now the Alagbeda of Agbeda-Ijesa in Ilesa-West Local Government Area of Osun, Oba Adesoji Adeniyi; National Life state correspondent, Omo’ba Wale Olayemi, of Otan Ayegbaju, and my little self.

A Yoruba proverb says, “If the youngster knows how to wash his hands properly, he will have the opportunity to dine with elders.” Eldership is not always an index of age. Sometimes, position or competence confers eldership. Not too long after dining with elder Adesina, I was promoted to the position of news and politics editor of Saturday PUNCH, triggering my relocation to Lagos. I was later appointed group politics editor of the three PUNCH titles. That role came with its perks. One of them was an annual invite by the U.S. Consulate in Lagos to their July 4 media seminar marking America’s Independence Day.

I was a guest at one of such events when I came across The Sun newspapers’ top dog again. This time, a former editor of The PUNCH, Mr Gbemiga Ogunleye, was also present. An extraordinary mentor and exemplar, if Oga Ogunleye lived during the time of Sango, the god of thunder, a news shrine would have been erected in his honour. He would have been worshipped to date as Ogunleye, the god of news.

I was super excited to be at the seminar with industry giants. I looked forward to hearing divergent views from participants like Adesina, whose newspaper articles I was following, but with whom I’ve never had the opportunity to interact professionally. When Adesina finally spoke, nuggets of humility and intelligence dropped like precious stones from his lips.

The Adesina whom I knew wasn’t the same Adesina who served Buhari. I’m not talking about integrity here; his integrity remains his integrity, but I’m talking about a media guru who sits smugly and clings to the totem of Buhari while the burning train plunges downhill to doom. Adesina, in his heart of hearts, knows the disaster Buhari was, but, in order not to be seen as someone who spread the Buharian good news, which turned out as sad news, he has decided to carry the Buhari cross till he breathes his last.

In his 488-page book, “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015 – 2023), Adesina says he left his good job at The Sun, where he earned three times more than what Buhari offered, describing his time in Buhari’s administration as national service.

While it is in Adesina’s rights to fetishise the shroud of Buhari, I feel his justification of Buhari spending undisclosed tonnes of pounds sterling on personal foreign medical trips while Nigerian hospitals were in a shambles was a slap on the face of Nigerians. It was a sin, too.

In the interview on Channels Television, Adesina said, “Buhari has always had his medicals in London, even when he was not in the office. So, it was not about the time he was president alone. He had always had it there,” adding that UK medical doctors had been managing Buhari’s health before his election in 2015 and were well acquainted with his medical history, making it unwise to change medical teams, mid-treatment.

What the wise special adviser was saying was that Buhari, from birth, had never been sick, never been treated in a Nigerian hospital. As soon as he was born, herdsmen hoisted him on a cow, and off to London hospital they went.

Mr Special Adviser, stop feeding Ngerians with nonsense, please! It is a no-brainer that Buhari’s medical records lay in various military hospitals located in the states where he served, before his health became a national liability, after he snatched power.

Of course, you know, Mr Adesina, that Buhari had his medical records in a few military hospitals where he received treatment as a middle cadre and senior officer. So, the same way he transferred his medical records abroad was the same way he should’ve transferred his medical records back to the country, upon assuming power in 2015, if his promise of change wasn’t a shortchange.

As a Christian, I expect Adesina to throw away the empty can of Buhari’s deodorant and not kick it about like a little village boy kicking a self-made ball of knotted rags. Buhari has gone to his grave with his innumerable leadership imperfections. Adesina should let him rest in peace, and not in pieces.

Nothing defines Buhari’s self-centredness and megalomania than his exposure by Aisha, his wife, and daughter, Zarah, in September 2017. Both mother and daughter intoned that Aso Rock clinic, meant to treat their breadwinner and his First Family, was shambolic, under Buhari’s very nose.

Zarah, in a series of Instagram posts, said, “More than N3bn budgeted for the State House clinic and workers there don’t have the equipment to work with? Why?” Where is the money going to? Medication only stocked once since the beginning of the year? Why? State House permanent secretary, please answer. Why isn’t there simple paracetamol, gloves, syringes… Why do patients/staff have to buy what they need in the state house clinic?”

Wait for her mother’s bomb. Aisha said, “…as you are all aware, Nigeria wasn’t stable because of my husband’s ill health. We thank God he is fully recovered now. If somebody like Mr President can spend several months outside Nigeria, then you wonder what will happen to a common man on the street?

“(A) few weeks ago, I was sick as well; they advised me to take the first flight out to London. I refused to go. I said I must be treated in Nigeria because there is a budget for an assigned clinic to take care of us. I insisted they call Aso Clinic to find out if the X-ray machine was working; they said it was not working. They didn’t know I was the one who was supposed to be in that hospital at that very time.

“I had to go to a hospital that was established by foreigners, in and out 100 per cent. What does that mean? If something like this can happen to me, no need for me to ask the governors’ wives what is happening in their states.”

Sadly, it’s this incompetent Buhari that Adesina was defending after he had sucked the nation dry, treating himself at The London Clinic when he should have ensured the establishment of good hospitals back at home. For Buhari and the members of the ruling class, it was okay if diseases struck Nigerians dead on the streets, provided they could access adequate healthcare abroad.

Spending donkey’s years receiving treatment in a £3,500 per day elite clinic that caters for the British royal family and political leaders, exposes Buhari as a sailor without a compass. He was the soldier without a gun; an Ogun without iron; a Sango without thunder. Buhari was nothing.

But Buhari had a heart. He had a heart strong enough to push him to spend 225 days outside the country on medical trips, visiting no fewer than 40 countries since 2015. That was Adesina’s hero, whose reign amounted to zero in eight years.

I suspect that without realising it, Adesina was in a toxic relationship with Buhari, like a husband-and-wife abusive relationship, where the husband regularly beats the wife, but the wife soldiers on, wipes her face when a knock sounds at the door, smiles and opens the door, adulating her husband. Or, Adesina probably knew it but was encaged?

With his meagre earnings, where Mr Integrity got the money to fund his expensive healthcare treatment in one of the most expensive clinics in London should be a source of investigation for the EFCC, but corruption is fast killing Nigeria before Nigeria kills corruption.

I pity the Ipetumodu-born Adesina, but I don’t understand why his dove chose to fly with vultures. I put the Adesina kernel on a stone and smashed it with a stone, just to unravel why the tender earthworm crawled to the table salt. Questions popped up in my mind: Why do people smoke when they know smoking kills? Why do people traffic drugs to Saudi Arabia when they know what would happen to their necks? Why do people scream Christiano Ronaldo when they know Lionel Messi is the GOAT? Why?

Insecurity. Compensation. Disillusionment. Hypocrisy.
