…Builds confidence of personnel, interacts and solicits continued support from security stakeholders
The Commissioner of Police of the Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has toured the Agbani, Enugu Metropolis, Nsukka, Oji-River, and Udenu Area Commands, as well as some Police Divisions, as part of his proclaimed commitment to establishing a more proactive policing.
According to a press release on Saturday, 25th May 2024 signed by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that during the tour, he interacted with and built the operational confidence of officers and men of Command. He charged them to remain steadfast, and professional and ensure that the proactive fight against unrepentant criminal elements in the state is sustained.
The CP also interacted with the security stakeholders in the Area Commands and Divisions visited. The stakeholders included joint security personnel drawn from the Army, DSS, Civil Defense, NDLEA, Road Safety, Neighbourhood Watch Group, Forest Guards, Hunters, and local vigilantes. Others included Heads of Personnel Management (HPM) of Local Government Areas (LGAs), traditional rulers, leaders of Police Community Relations Committees (PCRC), President Generals of community development unions, leaders of market and transport unions, captains of industries, religious leaders, among others.
The Commissioner also paid courtesy visits to some stakeholders in the course of the tour, while soliciting the continued support of the people of Enugu State. He emphasized that maximum support from the citizenry, especially through the community policing strategy, remains an important way of achieving optimal public security and safety, as well as maintaining law and order in the State.
Senior Police Officers that accompanied the CP on the three days tour included ACP Onyeamu Akaeme, the Assistant Commissioner in the Department of Operations; ACP Princewill Ijeoma and ACP Richard Aja-Chukwu, who respectively are the Commanding Officers of No. 3 PMF Enugu and No. 76 PMF Nsukka. Others respectively include CSP Rotimi Oshodi and SP Komo Folmi Bilyaminu, Commanding Officers of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) both in Enugu.
