he Enugu State Police Command has reiterated its ban on the sale and unauthorized use of fireworks across the state as part of heightened security measures for the yuletide season.
Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, emphasized that the restriction is necessary to prevent criminals from exploiting the sound of fireworks, reduce public panic, and ensure the safety of lives and property. He cautioned individuals and businesses involved in selling or using fireworks to desist immediately, warning that violators will be prosecuted. Parents and guardians were also advised to warn their children against the use of knockouts and other pyrotechnics.

CP Giwa further issued a strong warning against bush burning during the harmattan season, noting that such practices increase the risk of widespread fire outbreaks that could endanger lives and destroy property. He said offenders would face legal consequences.
The Command urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant throughout the festivities and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. Emergency contacts for the Command include 08032003702, 08086671202, and the Enugu State Command-and-Control Centre lines: 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093.
