The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, psc, has assured residents and visitors of robust security arrangements across the Territory as the year draws to a close.
In an end-of-year message issued on Wednesday, CP Dantawaye extended festive greetings to residents and visitors, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, safety and public order as the FCT transitions into 2026.
He disclosed that a total of 2,202 police personnel have been deployed across the FCT in line with the 2025 festive season operational order. According to him, the deployment is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure and hitch-free celebration.
Police personnel have been strategically stationed at places of worship, recreational and event centres, major highways, motor parks and other public spaces. The deployment is being supported by enhanced visibility policing and intelligence-led patrols.

The Commissioner noted that identified black spots, uncompleted buildings and shanties that could be exploited by criminal elements are under close surveillance and will be raided where necessary to prevent crime.
He added that tactical units, rapid response squads and patrol teams are fully engaged, with intensified vehicular and foot patrols ongoing across the Territory. The Command is also working closely with sister security agencies to ensure coordinated and comprehensive security coverage throughout the festive period.
CP Dantawaye further revealed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps at places of worship and other public gathering points, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police. General security monitoring has also been heightened to swiftly detect and neutralise any threat to public safety.
The Police Command reiterated that the use of fireworks, firecrackers, banga, knock-out or any similar explosive devices remains prohibited within the FCT. Residents were warned that anyone found in possession or using such items would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements or items to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883.
