The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued seven kidnapped victims after dislodging a suspected kidnapper’s camp during coordinated operations across the Ushafa–Mpape–Kagarko axis.
The operation followed a distress report on 5 December 2025 that armed men had invaded a community in Ushafa and abducted several residents. A joint security team comprising operatives of the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, alongside personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services, was immediately mobilised.
Acting on intelligence on 6 December, operatives traced the suspects through the outskirts of Mpape into settlements stretching towards the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The kidnappers allegedly opened fire upon sighting security personnel, prompting a gun duel during which the operatives overpowered the criminals and rescued one victim.
Security personnel continued the pursuit for more than seven hours across mountainous terrain, eventually locating the kidnappers’ camp in Kweri Forest, Kaduna State. Another exchange of gunfire reportedly forced the suspects to flee, enabling operatives to rescue six more victims. The seven rescued persons were later taken to the hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, praised the professionalism of the joint team and directed the deployment of additional personnel along identified corridors to deter further incursions by kidnapping syndicates.
While operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing, the Command urged hospitals and healthcare providers to immediately report persons with suspicious injuries via its emergency numbers: 08061581938, 08032003913.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on 7 December 2025 by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh..
