On Thursday 31st August 31, 2023, acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Police Affairs to congratulate and brief the newly appointed Ministers on the internal security situation of the country, emphasizing the need for enhanced synergy in tackling the evolving security challenges facing our nation.

Teamwork creates a synergy that amplifies individual efforts. When team members collaborate, they bring diverse perspectives, skills, and knowledge to the table. This combination allows them to tackle complex problems, generate innovative ideas, and find creative solutions that may not have been possible individually.

Synergy is the highest activity of life; it creates new, untapped alternatives; it values and exploits the mental, emotional, and psychological differences between people.

Synergy offers numerous advantages in various aspects. Some of the key benefits of synergy include:

Increased Productivity: When individuals or teams work together synergistically, their combined efforts often lead to higher productivity levels. By pooling resources and sharing expertise, tasks can be accomplished more efficiently and effectively.

Enhanced Creativity and Innovation: Synergy encourages the exchange of ideas and allows diverse perspectives to come together. This collaborative environment promotes creativity and fosters innovation, as different viewpoints can inspire unique solutions and approaches.

Improved Problem Solving: Synergy brings together a range of skills, knowledge, and experiences, enabling a more comprehensive and well-rounded approach to problem-solving. This collective intelligence often leads to better decision-making and optimized solutions.

Greater Operational Efficiency: When different functions within an organization or different departments within a team work in synergy, processes become streamlined, reducing redundancies and improving overall efficiency. This can result in cost savings and improved performance.

Stronger Relationships and Teamwork: Collaborative environments foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork, leading to improved relationships among team members. Synergy promotes open communication, cooperation, and trust, fostering a positive work culture.

Increased Learning and Growth: Synergistic collaborations provide opportunities for continuous learning and personal growth. Working with others who possess different expertise or backgrounds allows individuals to acquire new skills and knowledge that can benefit them personally and professionally.

Overall, synergy harnesses the power of collaboration, leading to improved outcomes across various domains and promoting a harmonious and productive work environment.

Recall that the acting IGP, in order to synergize in tackling the evolving security challenges facing the country, visited the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

This time around, it was the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., who paid the IGP a visit aimed at synergizing with the Nigeria Police on July 17, 2023.

The synergy was also extended to the Nigeria Bar Association when, on July 24, 3023, the IGP received the NBA President and other members in Abuja.

In order to seek ways to strengthen cooperation across all areas of their respective operations, especially border control, acting IGP Egbetokun received the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

The synergy was extended to the Police Service Commission (PSC) when, on Thursday, August 3, 2023, acting IGP Egbetokun met with the Chairman of the PSC, Solomon Arase (rtd). The meeting focused on crucial issues aimed at enhancing the mutual relationship between the police force and the commission.

Acting IGP Egbetokun also meets with the heads of security of banks and financial institutions in Nigeria at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where the IGP asks the committee to continue to cooperate with the personnel of the Force in ensuring the security and safety of banks and other financial institutions across the country.

Egbetokun understands the need for improved synergy among law enforcement agencies to successfully tackle insecurity in the country, hence the visit of the IGP, who was accompanied by members of the Force Management Team.

They had fruitful discussions with the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Minister of State, Hajia Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, about the state of national security, ongoing police reforms, and strategies to enhance collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Ministry of Police Affairs.

Acting IGP Egbetokun said that the visit highlights the undeniable need for collaborative efforts for improved security architecture in the nation. He reiterated the importance of creating an enabling environment for officers and urged all stakeholders to support the ongoing reform efforts of the current administration.

I am happy that the Minister of Police Affairs assured the acting IGP of the Ministry’s unwavering support for the implementation of key reforms and initiatives. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the police in maintaining law and order and pledged their dedication to providing the necessary resources, infrastructure, and training required for the force to efficiently discharge its duties and protect the lives and property of all Nigerians.

Acting IGP Egbetokun has been carrying out a proactive and intelligence-driven security synergy in order to achieve the fundamental national security goal of this administration.

I must commend the acting IGP, as most Nigerians can now sleep with their two eyes closed.
