The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, harps on professionalism and camaraderie as he convened a key strategic meeting with AIGs and CPs from all formations and zonal and state commands, aimed at reflecting on accomplishments, delineating future strategies, and reinforcing the commitment of the Force to maintaining law and order across the nation.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during the meeting on Tuesday, 15 October 2024, the IGP highlighted several significant achievements of the police force in recent months, including successful operations against organised crime, improved response times to emergencies, and increased community engagement initiatives. Noteworthy successes in combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and violent crime were emphasised, showcasing the dedication and resilience of our officers in ensuring the safety of citizens.
The IGP also engaged senior officers present in thorough discussions focused on decisive action plans to further reinforce law and order. The IGP further underlined the necessity of renewing the focus of the police on public safety and achieving operational excellence in service delivery to all citizens.
Significant emphasis was placed on the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16, 2024. The NPF is fully committed to impartiality, professionalism, and the highest standards of conduct to safeguard democracy. Rigorous training sessions will be conducted for police personnel to prepare them for their duties, with a focus on conflict resolution and maintaining public order during the elections.
The IGP further announced the senior police officers’ conference and retreat, which would take place from November 25th to 28th, 2024, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. This event aims to provide a platform for high-level discussions on force management, operational strategies, policy formulation, and leadership development within the Force.
