NNPC Ltd Launches Nationwide Health Insurance Scheme For Retail Service Attendants

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has introduced a comprehensive health insurance scheme for service attendants across its retail stations nationwide, marking a major step in its commitment to employee welfare and enhanced customer service.

The initiative, known as the Attendants’ Health Insurance Scheme, was launched by NNPC Retail Ltd in partnership with NNPC HMO and will enrol more than 7,000 service attendants on the NNPC HMO platform. The programme aims to ensure access to quality healthcare services for attendants working at NNPC retail outlets across the country.

Speaking at the launch held at the NNPC Mega Station in Abuja, the Executive Director, Retail Operations and Mobility, Baba-Shettima Kukawa, who represented the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, described the scheme as a milestone in strengthening service delivery.

He noted that service attendants are the company’s frontline representatives and play a critical role in shaping customer experience, adding that their well-being directly influences engagement and service quality.

“We have developed a comprehensive package known as the ‘Attendant Framework’, which focuses on enhancing their overall welfare. As part of this initiative, we are pleased to announce the rollout of HMO coverage effective this month,” he said. “Our goal is to elevate service delivery so that every customer interaction reflects care, professionalism, and excellence.”

Kukawa added that the initiative goes beyond welfare support, explaining that it is strategically designed to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity, and promote sustainable business growth.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Director, Information Technology, Ademola Adebusuyi, who represented the Managing Director of NNPC HMO, said the company is working with trusted healthcare providers nationwide to ensure that beneficiaries receive quality medical attention.

He stated that the scheme offers attendants access to an extensive network of hospitals across the country. “Good health is the foundation of productivity, and we encourage you to fully utilise this opportunity. Through this scheme, we want every attendant to feel supported, knowing that when illness strikes, they are not alone,” he said.

A Customer Service Attendant at the NNPC Retail Mega Station in Abuja, Dorcas Luke Onyeche, spoke on behalf of her colleagues and commended the management for prioritising attendants’ welfare. She said the scheme would boost their confidence and motivate them to deliver improved service.

The statement was signed by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, Abuja, on 13th November 2025.
