PDP Lagos State Protest Cancellation And Re-run Of House Of Reps Primaries

A group of aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos state has organized a protest at the party headquarters, Wadata Plaza in Abuja.

The protest is coming after the National Working Committee announced the cancellation and rescheduling of the House of Representatives primaries that took place on 22nd May 2022.

According to PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, the Lagos State House of Representatives Primary (24 Federal Constituencies) has been rescheduled for Monday, June 6, 2022. Aggrieved members of the party are crying foul because winners of House of Representative primaries have already emerged via a free, fair, and credible election on May 22nd. The names of winners of House of Representatives, House of Assemblies, and Governorship tickets were duly submitted to PDP headquarters for onward transmission to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The Lagos State PDP members are disappointed that only the result of the  House of Reps primaries was canceled even though it was the same adhoc delegate list that was used for all the elections. Speaking with the protesters, their grievance lies in singling out the House overpass result for cancellation and re-run.

They are therefore calling on the party leadership to maintain the status quo and forward the names of the House of reps winners who won at the party primaries to INEC and avoid intractable crises in Lagos state PDP by organizing the planned fictitious election on Monday.
