Police Arrest 4 Suspected Armed Robbers And 3 Cultists In Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command on Wednesday, 21st February 2024 based on information that some armed robbers with dangerous weapons invaded and attacked people’s residents at Jakabinne area Misau LGA, Bauchi State.

In a statement on Friday, 23rd February 2024 signed by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that upon receipt of the information, a team of detectives led by the DPO Misau Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly swung into action and rushed to the scene.

The statement said on arrival, the operatives came under fire from the armed robbers but were repelled with superior fire powers by the operatives.

“As a result of the gun duel, the ringleader was injured from gunshots, while others scampered through the nearby bushes with possible gunshots. In his last moment, the ringleader confessed that they were about thirteen in number that converged and entered Misau for armed robbery.

“Aftermath of the operations, the following exhibits were recovered; One local-made pistol; five handsets and the sum of twenty-four thousand, six hundred and sixty-five (N24,665) naira was recovered from him.

“Furthermore, Intel at the disposal of the Command, that the hoodlums were from Bauchi, and they were about thirteen (13) in number that invaded Misau for the operation. Led by Uzaifa Abdullahi alias Majidadi of Kofar Dumi.

Preliminary investigation pinpointed the following suspicious persons who were immediately arrested to ascertain their culpability over the alleged armed robbery attack.
They are Jamilu Ibrahim m 22 years old and, a resident of Railway Quarters, Bauchi; Nuhu Ya,u ‘m’ 19 years old, resident of Unguwan Karofi Bauchi; Abubakar Abdulmumin ‘m’ 22 years, resident of Railway Quarters, close to ECWA 2 church, Bauchi; Alhassan Hussaini ‘m’ 20 years, resident of Unguwan Kandahar, Bauchi and Uzaifa Abdullahi (died in the hospital), resident Kofar Dumi

During interrogation, the defendant freely confessed to having partaken in the alleged act and indicted their gang members.

The following suspects are at large Abdullahi Master ( Abdul Master), resident of Unguwan koila Bauchi; Abdul Dan Umma, resident of Unguwan Kandahar, Bauchi; Ismael Labatu (CID) Kofar Dumi; Prado ( Kwanan Koyla Bauchi); Ambulo, resident of Unnguwan Koyla

“Investigation is still ongoing, and efforts have been intensified to arrest the remaining accomplices.

In another development, on Sunday, 18th February 2024, a distress call was received at Durum outstation from one Abubakar Shehu (not real name) 45yrs old of Kuhu village via Durum ward Bauchi LGA, that on the same date at about 0900hrs, he observed a body of a young man yet to be identified lying down in a bush in the outskirt of Kuhu village.

“On receipt of the report, the patrol team attached to C Division swiftly moved to the scene, the body was evacuated to ATBU teaching hospital Bauchi for medical examination, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor, also on 19/02/2024 at about 0700hrs another distress call was received from the same location on another corpse observed at the same area, Patrol team led by the DPO C Division drove to the scene for the second time, the area was carefully viewed and footsteps of people was observed the body was also taken to the same hospital and was certified death by the medical doctor, both the corpses were viewed and no any physical injury or mark of violence or strangulation was observed, the two eyes of the last body recovered were forcefully punctured, the corpse was also deposited at the same hospital, no any means of identification found with both corpses.

“Earlier before the information on the second corpse, on the same 18/2/2024 at 1830hrs three suspects namely Hoomvez Martins Nyelong ‘m’ aka slin 27yrs old; Daniel Audu Adamu ‘m’ 26 years old and Maigari Inuwa aka mega fashion world ‘m’ 29yrs old were seen roaming about around the area, they were arrested and failed to give a satisfactory account of their mission in the area, two of the suspects are students of ATBU Bauchi while one of them claimed to have graduated from University of Jos.

“Investigation suspected them to be members of a cult group behind the gruesome killing of the two deceased.

Exhibits recovered at the scene include Pieces of razor blades; Empty bottles of water; Empty bottles of alcohol; Empty sachets of water; Candles; Sticks with blood stains and torn short trousers.

“Further investigation revealed that the first suspect (Hoomvez Martins Nyelong) was seen in the area where the first corpse was found with two others in the early hours of Sunday 18/2/2024. Also, WhatsApp chats found in his mobile phone revealed that he was the one that dropped off the first corpse whose relatives appeared and identified him to be one Reheboth Joseph Deshi ‘M’ 32yrs old of Rafin Zurfi Yelwa area Bauchi.

“While an investigation is still ongoing, efforts have been intensified to burst their enclaves and arrest the remaining accomplice.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed has called on the good people of the state to maintain vigilant in their neighbourhood and report any detected suspicious movement to the police for prompt action to be taken to forestall possible breakdown of law-and-order loss of life and or, property damage.

“The Police is ever committed to protecting the lives and property of the people through various strategic policing methods, hence the need for all stakeholders to join hands with the police to end all forms of insecurity and crimes for a crime-free society, the statement concluded.
