In a heartfelt statement released on Saturday, Senator Nenadi Usman, the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, called on the federal government to immortalise the legacy of the late Justice Mohammed Uwais, former Chief Justice of the Federation, by implementing his pivotal recommendations on electoral reform.

Senator Usman emphasised that honouring Justice Uwais’s memory requires actively adopting the reforms outlined in the Mohammed Uwais Report, which reflects his unwavering commitment to advancing democratic principles and fostering national progress.

Expressing her condolences, Senator Usman described the death of Justice Uwais as a profound loss for Nigeria, stating, “His principled and visionary leadership as Chief Justice not only advanced the cause of justice but also set a benchmark for generations of legal minds to follow.”

In her emotional tribute, she remarked, “It is with profound grief that I received the news of the passing of Honourable Justice Mohammed Uwais – an exceptional jurist, a revered elder statesman, and a shining beacon of integrity in Nigeria’s judicial history. His enduring legacy is profoundly etched in the annals of our nation’s jurisprudence.”

Senator Usman acknowledged the far-reaching impact of Uwais’s contributions, noting that his transition represents a monumental loss not only for his family and the legal community but for the nation as a whole—a country he served with unmatched dedication throughout his distinguished career.

On behalf of the Labour Party, she extended heartfelt condolences to Justice Uwais’s family, colleagues, and the entire nation, adding a prayer for comfort and peace for all those left behind.

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort those he leaves behind,” she concluded.
