There Is Adequate Record To Quantity Of Crude Oil Nigeria Produces Says Adewole

A Public Affairs Analyst and Publisher of Swift Reporter, Adewole Kehinde has countered a recent statement credited to NEITI Boss, Ogbonnaya Orji which says the organisation don’t know the exact quantity of Crude Oil Nigeria produces

Adewole recalled that the Department of Petroleum Resources launched the National Production Monitoring System sometime in December 2018.

“The  National Production Monitoring  System  is  an electronic system  put in place at the Department of Petroleum Resources  to ensure that  production of  oil and gas industry  are monitored  in an efficient and effective way on daily , weekly  or monthly basis  and  also to report same to the appropriate authorities  and  other government agencies  that use production and gas data input .

He further said that the objective of National Production Monitoring System is basically to provide an online platform to accurately monitor national crude oil production and exports, through the provision of a system for direct and independent acquisition of production data from oil and gas facilities in Nigeria to ensure timely and accurate reporting of production figures and export data.

The National Production Monitoring System replaces the paper based report.

“I can say authoritatively that the National Production Monitoring System ensures ready production reporting to agencies such as Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

The National Production Monitoring System has brought efficiency, accurate and robust surveillance of the nation’s oil production and export capabilities.

“I will like to tell the NEITI Boss that there is even a Law for failure to comply with the National Production Monitoring System which is in Section 52 of the Petroleum (Drilling and Production) Regulations, 1969 as amended and will attract necessary sanctions from DPR, he concluded.
