151 Senior Police Officers Face Disciplinary Committee Over Alleged Misconduct

Abuja, July 16, 2025 — In a bold move to strengthen internal discipline and uphold professional standards, the Nigeria Police Force has announced that 151 senior police officers are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) over various pending disciplinary matters.

According to a press release on Wednesday, 16th July, 2025, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the disciplinary sessions, which began on Monday, July 14, 2025, will run through Friday, July 25, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The officers involved—ranging from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above—were drawn from commands and formations across the country. They are being investigated for alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations. The FDC is expected to carry out a rigorous, transparent review process in accordance with existing police regulations, with final recommendations to be forwarded to the Police Service Commission.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, stressing the importance of ethical behaviour and internal accountability within the Force.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not condone any form of misconduct. Discipline and integrity are the backbone of effective policing, and we are committed to building a system that reflects those values,” the IGP stated.

The Nigeria Police Force affirmed its commitment to fostering professionalism and maintaining public trust, noting that this ongoing disciplinary process is part of wider institutional reforms aimed at cultivating a transparent, service-oriented, and law-abiding policing culture.
