….Urges them to maintain and replicate the same in the State-level Elections
….Warns against acts of lawlessness and criminal subversion

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, has applauded the good people of the State, particularly the electorate, for conducting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner in the just concluded 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, which was held across the various Polling Units of the State, on 25th February 2023. He also appreciates the uncommon confidence and support of the electorate, who came out in their numbers to exercise their franchise, extended to the Police and other security agencies, which undoubtedly made the task of effectively policing the elections possible.

A statement by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that he urges them to sustain the tempo and in the same manner, conduct themselves orderly and peacefully in the forthcoming Governorship and State House of Assembly Elections, slated for 11th March 2023 in the State.

The statement read, “Consequently and given the outcomes of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly Elections, the CP has urged citizens of the State to remain law-abiding and avoid acting in ways capable of truncating the peace and tranquility experienced during and beyond the period of the Elections.

“He cautions all and sundry, especially political parties, their candidates and supporters, to desist from making and/or using social media to spread falsehood and incisive statements, which criminal elements could capitalize on to perpetrate acts capable of breaching public peace and order in the State.

“The Commissioner notes that, while the Command remains focused on the task of ensuring public security and safety of the good people of the State, she will also not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or persons, especially subversive criminal elements, who may want to use the instrument of protest to breach public peace and cause havoc on human lives and property in the State.

“To this end, citizens of the State have been enjoined to remain law-abiding, be security conscious, and quickly report criminal suspects and acts capable of breaching public peace to the nearest Police Station; or by calling the Command’s emergency hotlines on 08032003702, 08075380883, 08098880172 or call/send WhatsApp messages to 080806671202.
