…Serves evacuation notice to illegal kiosks
The Director-General of Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS), Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan alongside others on Tuesday visited site in Bolari Ward, Gombe Local Government, for on the spot assessment.
The team include, Special Adviser to the Governor of Gombe on Development Control, Air Commander (Rtd) Peter Bilal, Hon. Hamza Adamu, Chairman Committee on Lands and Survey, Hon. Shuaibu Adamu, Chairman, Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs and Hon. Mustapha Usman Hassan, Chairman Committee on Transport, Gombe State House of Assembly.
The Director General says, as a professional town planner, planning involves people, no proper planning will be conducted without involving the people of the community, therefore, we ought to address this issue while considering the plight of the citizens.
The team were at the site to inspect temporary business premises, which Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Board approved to one Ado Rahama, to sell meat (Suya), pending on when the state government deem it necessary to revoke the approval.
Upon arrival, Comrade Mustapha Usman Hassan, says as Member Representing Gombe South, he received complaints of evacuation notice from the member of his constituency, that’s why, he regarded the matter with seriousness it deserve, thereby calling the attention of the relevant authorities to resolve it.
The Honorable Member says, while alluding to the fact, the state government has rights to revoke lands allocated to citizens, but it should also consider the rising rate of unemployment in the country.
He, therefore, implored complainants to accept the professional verdict, which he believe it’ll best serve their interest and that of the state government.
Consequently, security reports have been received on the said location, where some miscreants nearby, have indulged in transacting hard drugs, Indian hem and other illegal drugs.
The Special Adviser on Development Control, Rt Air Commander Peter Bilal said such ulterior motives on whatever disguise will no longer be tolerated under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. He warned that, every individual caught selling hard drugs will face the full wrath of the law.
The team finally endorsed the resolutions that all the shops operating at the premises without approval should remove their kiosks. They subsequently recommended to look for other locations and apply for approval.
In addition, they suggested that Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Board should come up with a prototype design, landscape of the area, for the neighborhood to have a recreational park.
