Engr. Mansur Sambo started his engineering career at the University of Jos where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Design and Production Engineering in 1986. He went further to obtain a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Ibadan in 1990.

He has attended several National and International trainings and courses in transport and logistics, Health safety and environmental awareness, Oil and Gas Contract Negotiation etc.

Sambo is a member of numerous professional bodies, including Nigeria society of Engineers (NSE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Solar Energy Society of Nigeria and Quality Control Society of Nigeria. He is also a COREN registered engineer, who holds the principles of professional Ethics and Total Quality Management (TQM).

Engr. Mansur Sambo started his career with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in 1999, where he was posted to Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) as a Mechanical/ Planning Engineer. He was transferred to National Petroleum Investments Management Services (NAPIMS) as Chief Facilities Engineer, a position he occupied until 2007.

Due to his diligence and tenacity in carrying out his duties, Engr. Sambo was transferred to Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD) as a Tanker Clearer Supervisor where he served from 2007 to 2011. He further worked in the office of the Group Executive Director (GED), Exploration and Production (E&P) as Senior Technical Assistant from 2011 to 2013. He went ahead to work at the office of the Group Managing Director (GMD) as Technical Assistant, Upstream between 2013 and 2014. From 2014 to 2015, he worked with the Office of GED E&P as a Manager and E&P Special Projects.

In 2015, given his vast knowledge of the oil and gas business, Engr. Sambo was appointed General Manager, Crude Oil Stock Management, COMD, a position which he held until his appointment as Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited (NPDC) in 2019.

Upon Resumption to office as Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), he has contributed significantly to the supply of gas to the domestic market than its competitors.

On Sambos watch, out of 1.7 billion standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) that goes to the domestic market, NPDC and its partners supply about 1.1 billion, while the company alone supplies about 650 million standard cubic feet, making it the largest Gas suppliers to the domestic market.

The Integrated Gas Handling facility and the liquefied petroleum Gas storage and dispensing unit, was completely owned and constructed by the NPDC. Revenue of the Company has been boosted among others.

Sambo has achieved immensely in the oil and Gas sector, having helped the country achieve much in the sector which includes;

Coordination of Government’s Crude Oil entitlement from all NNPC/ Federal Government Crude Oil Production Contracts Joint Ventures, Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) and Modified Carry Agreements (MCAs).

Establishment of a sustainable framework for the recovery of Overriding Crude Oil Royalties by Marginal Oil Fields Operators.

Development of an Enduring Mechanism for improved Government Revenue share from dispute ridden 1993 Production Sharing Contracts PSCs.

Contributed significantly to Fund Sourcing Processes for various NNPC and Federation projects including Cash Calls Arrears Repayment.

Pioneered the establishment of national daily crude oil and gas reporting at the Exploration and Production Directorate.

Coordinated the completion and delivery of the Multi-Million Dollar Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)

Bonny Terminal Project for which he obtained the Shell MD’s Merit Award.

Participated in the Petroleum Industry Bill- PIB reframing exercise from OGIC.

Participated in the development of Akpo field production – lifting agreement.

Established the electronic database of crude oil loading, transportation, and off-take.

Participated in the development of operational guidelines, training manuals and organizing training exercises for all NNPC operators across 24 terminals.
