Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, not to assent to the Petroleum Industry Bill passed recently by the National Assembly.
Speaking on Thursday while addressing journalists, Senator Dickson called on the President in the name of Justice, Equity and Fairness, to send another bill to reflect a 5% allocation for the host community.
He also suggested that the bill can mandate and give roles to host communities to secure and repair any vandalized pipelines to justify money allocated to them, adding that transit host communities where the Petroleum pipe passes should also be recognized for less vandalization activities.
According to Senator Dickson, three percent passed by the National Assembly would only alienate the host communities.
He noted that nation building should not be based on numbers neither should the minority and the weak should be trampled upon.
Former Governor of Bayelsa State also said the decision of the Senate to subordinate the constitutional role of INEC in the transmission of electron results to another agency and body is unconstitutional.
