…’My defection to APC was informed by Governor Inuwa’s achievements, inclusive governance’, says lawmaker after registering with ruling party
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has formally received the member representing Nafada South Constituency, Hon. Adamu A. Musa and his teeming supporters into the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to a press release on Tuesday, 8th March 2022 signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Gombe Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, he said that at a ceremony organised to mark the formal defection of the lawmaker from the opposition PDP to the governing APC in Gombe State, held at Birin Fulani West Ward of Nafada Local Government Area, Governor Inuwa acknowledged Hon. Musa as a grassroots politician who will add value to the ruling party.
Represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari, the Governor expressed delight with the warm reception accorded him and his entourage by the people of Biri in particular and Nafada LGA at large, assuring the mammoth crowd that they will never regret the decision to join the APC.
“When we came to power in 2019, we pledged to carry everybody along irrespective of any differences, and we are delivering on that”.
“The developmental projects our government is executing in Nafada South Constituency and Nafada Local Government in general is, but just a tip of the iceberg – many more are coming insha Allah”, he added.
In his address during the event, the Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Luggerewo, described Hon. Musa as a selfless representative and politician who dances to the tune of his people.
“I work closely with this gentleman and I have found him to be very passionate about serving his people, this puts him on the same page with Governor Inuwa Yahaya who always works in the interest of his people”.
Hon. Adamu Musa, after receiving his membership card of the APC, explained that he was attracted to the ruling party by the achievements recorded by Governor Inuwa, not only within his constituency, but the state at large.
“I was moved by the giant strides and unprecedented achievements made by Governor Inuwa Yahaya-led administration in less than three years. Within this short period, Gombe has witnessed tremendous development, and I will not want to be left out of this success story “.
He eulogised non-discriminatory leadership style of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. “Even when I was in the opposition, I forwarded so many requests that have to do with the yearnings and aspirations of my constituents, the requests that were never turned down by His Excellency. What else do we need from a leader apart from sincere concern and true commitment?” He rhetorically asked.
Also speaking, the Chairman Nafada LGA, Alh. Musa Abubakar Babawuro enumerated some projects executed by Governor Inuwa Yahaya in Nafada LGA to include, building a linking bridge that had been the nightmare of numerous communities in the area, construction of schools, roads and healthcare facilities, citing of special meteorological station for flooding management in addition to the appointment of prominent personalities from the area, a gesture he described as a great favour that needs to be reciprocated.
In their separate remarks, the district heads of Birin Fulani, Alh. Adamu Aliyu Baba Goro and that of Birin Bolewa, Alh. Muhammad Kwairanga Abubakar expressed their satisfaction with the projects executed in the area, calling on members of the public to always preach the gospel of peace and harmony.
They noted that it is the first time in the history of Gombe State that district heads were upgraded from level 6 to 12 and ward heads from level 3 to 8, describing the action as a demonstration of respect to traditional institution by Inuwa Yahaya-led administration.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman APC Nafada LGA, Alh. Adamu Abdullahi Masad assured the defectors of equal and fair treatment as enshrined in the party’s constitution.
The event was graced by Honourable Members of Gombe State House of Assembly, Commissioners of Various ministries, Special advisers to the Governor and other top government officials and party stalwarts.
