The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has assured residents of the state that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure hitch-free celebration, given the forthcoming Eidel Fitr celebration.
According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, DSC Okadigbo Edwin, he said that the State Commandant has ordered the deployment of seven hundred and fifty-seven officers and men across the length and breadth of the State in synergy with sister security agencies with a clear mandate of ensuring that all government critical national assets are protected while ensuring crime-free Sallah celebration.
Men of Special units such as Counter Terrorism Unit, Chemical, Biological and Radiology Unit, Rapid Response Squad, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Protection Unit, and Investigation and Intelligence unit, as well as Armed Squad Unit have been placed on red alert to nip in the bud any violent crime that may want to rear its ugly head. Twenty Four Hours surveillance patrols have also been intensified around the various praying ground as well as event/recreation centers across the State.
Comdt. Everestus Obiyo JP+ while felicitating with Muslim faithful and the good people of Anambra State enjoined them to reflect on the reasons for the Sallah celebration and be good ambassadors of Islam by ensuring peace at all times.
He also appealed to members of the public to alert the NSCDC and other security agencies whenever they notice any strange movements or suspicious faces within their domain. He enjoins the general public to be security-conscious and vigilant as they celebrate.
