Mikano International Limited, the company known for producing generators, has donated 20 units of traffic shelter to the Nasarawa State Government as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Salako Nurudeen Yemi, Special Adviser to the chairman of Mikano International Limited on Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS), presented the items to Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House, on Tuesday.

In his short remarks during the presentation, Yemi disclosed that the chairman of the company personally selected Nasarawa State as benefiting state from the North Central zone.

He equally appreciated the role played by a son of the state, Hon Kassim Muhammad Kassim, for facilitating the donation.

Yemi expressed hope that Nasarawa State will enter into fruitful business relationship with the Mikano International Limited, in order to move the state forward  economically.

He thanked the Governor for personally receiving the items.

Responding shortly after receiving the traffic shelters, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, appreciated Mikano International Limited for the gesture.

Engineer Sule said his administration is concerned about the safety and welfare of the people of the state, which the items donated will enhance, especially for traffick warders who are frequently exposed to reckless driving from motorcyclists.

“Safety in the sense that some of these motorcyclists could actually hit these traffic officers by the roadside. But once he is inside something like this, he is protected.

“Secondly, for his health. You have a  sitting arrangement and when he stands for a long time, he has the opportunity to sit down and have some rest. I took those two areas as very important to our traffic warders,” he stated.

The Governor said that explained why he was on hand to personally receive the donation.

He commended the company for diversifying its activities from generators to other items, stressing that as the company continues to diversify, the Nasarawa State Government will continue to show interest in the company’s activities.

Engineer Sule particularly thanked the chairman of Mikano International Limited for the gesture.
