National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) Madinah Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Mahmud has urged the National Media Team to always clarify and balance their reportage of the 2022 Hajj operations and thereby promote the good image of the country.
He made the appeal when the team met with the Madinah Coordinator in Nigeria House, Madinah.
Alhaji Mahmud said the media, as partners in progress for a successful Hajj, should look beyond breaking the news and the social media euphoria to always fact-check and clarify stories before sending them out to the public. He also called on the media to be patriotic and adhere to the ethics of their profession.
The Madinah Coordinator appealed to the Media Team to live up to national expectations while in the holy land and also discharge effectively the responsibilities assigned to them by the Commission.
Earlier, the Nigeria Medical Missioner Madinah, Dr. Hamidu Mohammed hinted to the media team about the progress of Hajj operations so far and what is expected of pilgrims while in the holy land.
He advised pilgrims to engage in physical exercises, such as trekking, and to use appropriate clothing, umbrellas, hats, and protective headgears to avoid sun strokes. He also advised that pilgrims should avoid aimless outings and take lots of water to stay hydrated always.
Mohammed further advised pilgrims to always report medical emergencies on time and also eat good and fresh foods at all times.
