The General Manager of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), Bala Wunti, was the target of a blackmail attempt by a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Nigeria, according to the Integrity Youth Alliance.
According to a press release from the Board Chairman of the Integrity Youth Alliance, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, who made the statement on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, said that Bala Wunti has the same similarity as the Group CEO of the NNPC Limited in that he uses accountability and transparency for the benefit of the country.
“We can beat our chest, as a group, to say that Bala Wunti has never frustrated oil development operations for personal gains.
“Since taking over as General Manager of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), it is generally known that Bala Wunti, a man of transparency, has been running NAPIMS honestly and openly without putting his or her conscience at risk for selfish or avaricious motives.
“Engr. Wunti is a man determined to maintain integrity and greatness, even in the face of odds and preponderant influence from others.
“He is open and honest nature in all dealings without concealment and allows people’s true feelings and opinions to be freely expressed.
“We won’t be surprised if SNEPco is behind this latest blackmail but we leave that to the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited to decide.
“We want to remind the so-called Concerned Citizens of Nigeria group that several factors, including the following, can influence contract renewal: failure to consider, inability, the statute of frauds, mutual mistake, misrepresentation, breach, discharge by frustration, and the impossibility of performance, the statement concluded.
