House Rejects NBET Boss’ Reply To Query

The House Committee on Power has expressed dissatisfaction with the response of Dr. Marilyn Amobi, MD/CEO of Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) PLC, to its query demanding answers to corrupt practices she allegedly perpetrated in the wholly-owned government company.

In a letter signed by the Chairman of the Committee, Engr. Magaji Da’u Aliyu and dated July 20, 2020, the Committee accused Dr. Amobi of avoiding the substance of the contents of the query. “You have painstakingly shifted responsibility to a third party in some instances whereas NBET fund was used to finance such transactions,” the letter read.

The Committee also observed that Dr. Amobi claimed to have attached supporting documents in binder form numbered pages 1 to 431 but the documents were not included as part of her response.

In view of the above, said the Committee, the query subsists until she responded to the allegations in a convincing and comprehensive manner.

The Committee gave the NBET boss three days from the date of the receipt of the letter to do so.
