...Contractor Expresses Commitment Towards Maintaining Standard, Pledges Timely Completion Of Project
The contractor handling the rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion of Gombe Regional Water Supply Scheme, Jidadu Ventures Ltd has restated a strong commitment towards ensuring a high standard and timely completion of the project.
The assurance came from the site Engineer of the firm, Mr. Abubakar U. B. while briefing newsmen shortly after conducting them around the project sites.
Engr. Abubakar said to fast-track the completion of the projects, the firm mobilized all the needed facilities, personnel, and resources to the sites, maintaining that construction works had since begun in all the major sites of the project and are undertaken simultaneously.
“At most of the sites, work has reached a significant level. We reached between 60-80 % at the Tumfure mega Booster Station along the western bypass and the other booster station adjacent to Gombe International Hotel. In a few weeks we hope to complete the work in these two sites”, the Engr noted.
He said the company has already finished rehabilitation of the overhead reservoir close to the Ministry of Women Affairs which has a 1 million liter capacity and work is going earnestly at the Wuro Juli facility which if completed can supply about 5 million liters of water to the neighborhood.
At the Tabra site where the company is constructing a mini borehole-based water project and treatment plant with a 500,000-liter capacity, the site engineer said after suspending the work for some time due to the rainy season, work has resumed earnestly.
Commenting on the quality of work, Engr. Abubakar said, “we are closely working with our consultants and other relevant stakeholders who monitor the project to ensure all terms and conditions of the contract are adhered to. And from our side, quality is our no.1 priority; we don’t compromise quality or standards.
“As you can see, we are using High Density, Polyethylene Pipes (HDPEs) which are specifically produced and branded for this project; And we also use austenitic stainless steel materials and other materials which are Internationally recommended for use in water construction works”, he added.
Mr. Abubakar stated that the firm is now pursuing the project with all enthusiasm as all the natural factors impeding the smooth running of the projects are no more, assuring timely completion.
“Since we are now moving into the dry season, we will continue to pursue the project with all vigor. Before the end of the year, I am sure most of our booster stations would have been completed.
“With the support, encouragement, and cooperation we get from the state government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, we are hopeful that the project will be completed even before the deadline”, he added.
Work has also begun in earnest at the site near NTA, where the third mega booster station is being constructed. “We excavated the place and are laying all the necessary foundations for all the structures and facilities. The facility as other two booster stations will have a combined capacity of 1.5 million liters”, the Engr. clarified.
At all the sites visited, workers were seen busy doing their jobs under the close supervision of engineers and consultants ensuring strict compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
The rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion of the Gombe Regional Water Supply Scheme project aims to provide additional 11 million liters of water to the existing supply capacity of the scheme and pipe laying of more than 160 km within the Gombe metropolis and neighboring communities.
