The Osun State House of Assembly member for Obokun State Constituency, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi has criticized a statement from the parliament that analyzed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s inaugural speech.
In a statement on Monday evening, the member of the Assembly said the lawmakers did not at any point since the inauguration of the new Governor meet to review his address, noting that the resolution as released by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon. Kunle Akande is alien to him.
Hon. Adeyemi, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however, urged his colleagues to support the new administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, to deliver good governance to the people of Osun.
He said: “As a lawmaker who attends plenary very well, I hereby state unequivocally that the Assembly has not met after the governor’s inauguration.
“It is also worth noting that there was no place the resolution was passed by the Assembly.
“The public especially Osun people are hereby advised to take note of this.
“I will however encourage and advise all my colleagues to let us work together and support the new government of the day.
“Let us make Osun our priority and move Osun forward to make it better,” Adeyemi noted.
Akande had on Monday said the Assembly after reviewing the inaugural address of Governor Adeleke noted that the order to revert the Osun Anthem and state appellation of “State of the Virtuous (Ipinle Omoluabi),” to State of the Living Spring, is illegal and the latter is backed by relevant provisions of the law and has been assented to since December 18, 2022.
The Assembly publicist cautioned the Governor to be mindful of the laws of the state while taking decisions.
