CP Gombe Welcomes Northern Nigerian Students And Others On A Courtesy Visit

The Gombe State Commissioner of Police on Thursday received a group of Northern Nigerian Students and others on a courtesy visit.

According to a press release signed by the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar said that the Commissioner of Police during a dialogue with the association of Northern Nigerian students said spreading false, unverified information can set the world on fire.

Earlier, the President of the Northern Nigerian Students, Comrade Sadiq Sabo said the motto of the association is ‘Unity and Progress for Better Education” which gives the association avenue to fight social vices such as drug abuse, Malpractice and any form of criminality as well as preaching and encouraging peaceful coexistence among it members.

“We are here to honour you, CP sir because of your tremendous efforts which lead to recording great achievement in just two months in office as the Commissioner of Police Gombe State command,” Comrade Sadiq Sabo said.

The association described the Commissioner of Police as Peoples’ friendly which depicts the slogan of the Police Force “Police is your Friend,” adding that the Commissioner of Police stands as a role model whose capacity and ability become a reference point to all and sundry.

Welcoming the association, the Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim expressed his delightfulness for the visit.

He called on the leaders of the association to talk to their members not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs during the upcoming Elections.

He further said, “The number of out-of-school children is worrisome” urging parents to intensify efforts in training and providing for their children/wards and enroll them to learn any skills of their choice, that way they can’t be lewd into unlawful practices thereby reducing the rate of crime.

The Association later presented an award to the Commissioner of Police as an “Icon of Peace” alongside golden metal to encourage him to do more. The CP thanked the association and wished them well in their future endeavors.

In another development, the Commissioner of Police Gombe State Command CP Oqua Etim received in the audience of the Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War Campaign, which is a collaborative effort of 2Baba Foundation, Child Protection And Peer Learning Initiatives and JESZ Development Foundation which is designed to increase the positive participation of youth in Nigeria’s Political and Electoral process by promoting peaceful and constructive youth engagement.

The campaign spokesman, Umar Salisu Ibrahim said the campaign can’t be possible without the Police who are saddled with the responsibility of enforcing laws and Order at the same time, protecting lives and property hence the visit.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police commended their effort and assured them of maximum support whenever the need arises.
