– Orders maximum deployment of all policing resources, warns lapses will not be tolerated
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, convened a last-minute Elections Security Review and Strategic Meeting with the Command’s Management Team members and Commanders of all the tactical and operational formations and units in the Command on February 21, 2023, in furtherance of his avowed commitment to ensure peaceful and credible general elections in Enugu State in 2023.
According to a statement signed by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, that meeting was aimed at putting the finishing touches on the strategies being implemented for the maintenance of law and order during the period of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, slated for Saturday, February 25, 2023. The Commissioner charged the Supervisory Officers to ensure that all the Command’s human, operational, and intelligence assets at their disposal are maximally deployed towards the provision of adequate security for the electorate and other authorized participants in the Elections.
The CP also ordered them to ensure that the election centers and flashpoints are adequately policed to forestall untoward occurrences, warning that lapses of any kind will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner has maintained that the Police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the elections are conducted as expected, in an atmosphere of peace, security, and the safety of the citizenry. He, therefore, urges all and sundry in the state to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive.
