Police Commissioner Orders Restriction Of Movement On Election Day In Gombe

…..reaffirms the ban on quasi-security outfits and VIP aides on Election Day

The Gombe State Police Command has ordered the restriction of all forms of vehicular movement and any other form of transportation within the state from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day, except for those on essential duties such as INEC officials, electoral observers, firefighters, and ambulances for emergencies.

According to a statement signed by the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the CP warned all VIP aides and escorts to refrain from accompanying their principals and other politicians to the polling booth, as that will attract stringent disciplinary measures.

The Command spokesperson emphasized that quasi-security outfits such as vigilante groups, hunters, security outfits, and any other voluntary organization without legal backing should not form part of the election exercise, as anyone found in uniform flouting this directive will be arrested and arraigned before the court.
