Tombomieye Adokiye: Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress Goofed – Youth Alliance

The Integrity Youth Alliance has berated the “Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress” for looking for cheap accountability publicity.

Reacting to a publication in Sahara Reporters titled “Group Asks EFCC To Probe NNPC Chief, Adokiye For Alleged Crude Oil Theft, Others”, the National Coordinator of the Integrity Youth Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga, said that it is unfortunate that the Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress is still displaying its obtuseness in public by saying that Vice President of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Tombomieye Adokiye, is allegedly involved in crude oil theft, and the instigation of a mega protest in the Niger Delta region is

“With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry spanning through operations, engineering, project management, and commercial business management, Engr. Adokiye can never be involved in crude oil theft nor incite youths to stage a mega protest in the Niger Delta region,” Adegbenga said.

He said further, “From the tone of the allegations by the so-called “Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress,” it shows that the group is aggrieved that Engr. Adokiye did not allow them to partake in the NNPC youth and stakeholder concessional empowerment schemes, contract placement in all upstream subsidiaries, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and local content benefits.”

“Engr. Adokiye, with his wealth of experience, will not give out concessional empowerment schemes or contract placement with due process, and we are sure that the “Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress” want to bypass the process, which is not possible, hence framing baseless allegations against Engr. Adokiye, which to us is complete blackmail.”

Engr. Tombomieye Adokiye

“For the record, Engr. Adokiye Tombomieye’s expertise in the oil and gas industry is highly evident in his trajectory of progressively attaining key positions.”

“He commenced his career in 1991 at Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited (EPCL) as a Production Engineer, where he made outstanding contributions to the operations of the Polyethylene Plant for about 14 years.

“Almost a decade into his NNPC career, he was appointed as the Acting Deputy Manager of Polyethylene/Butene-1 Plants in recognition of his excellent performance. He excelled during the Performance Guarantee Test (P.G.T.) using the Modified Reactor Agitator, as this feat was achieved despite the reduction of the Technical Back-up Staff (TBS) by 90 percent.

“Following EPCL, he was deployed to Brass LNG, where he further gained vast experience of over 10 years by providing technical support to the Gas and Power Directorate before he attained the position of manager.

“In 2015, Adokiye was appointed General Manager, Commercial, in the Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD), which transitioned his career into the upstream sector of the industry. His competence, loyalty, and dedication to NNPC paved the way for his promotion to the position of Group General Manager (COMD) in 2019.

“In 2020, the President and Commander-in-Chief appointed him as the Chief Operating Officer, Upstream.” He is currently championing the industry’s objective of reducing costs and improving revenue for the company.

“His penchant for coaching and mentoring people has positively impacted many stakeholders across the oil and gas industry.

“He also served on the boards of various subsidiaries within the company, such as NPDC, PPMC, Retail, Duke Oil, and NIDAS, where he made significant contributions to board discussions.”

“Adokiye is hardworking, honest, dependable, and committed to the growth of NNPC Limited,” the statement said.

“We wish to enlighten the “Niger Delta Youths and Stakeholder Congress” that the Executive Vice President of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Tombomieye Adokiye, is busy carrying out the vision of the company, which is to be the dynamic global energy company of choice, and its mission, which is to reliably deliver energy while continuously creating value for all stakeholders, rather than responding to the impertinent Congress,” the statement concluded.
