Police Arrest 19 “Sara-Suka” Suspects In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command as part of its continuous efforts and watertight security in the state and the serenity of the upcoming Eid-El-Fitir Sallah celebration in Bauchi and its environs has arrested nineteen thugs known as Sara-suka suspects.

According to a press release signed by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that the command has relentlessly continued to smoke out these criminals with consistent effort.

The Command spokesperson said, “On 10/04/2023 at about 2300hrs, a team of operation restore peace led by the Commander while on visibility Policing Patrol along Shagari, Unguwan Mahaukata, and Karofin Madaki ward Bauchi, raided a criminal hideout and arrested the following thug and thuggery (Sara-suka) suspects; Adamu Shuaibu ‘m’ aged 18yrs; Mustapha Bala ‘m’ aged 18yrs of Karofin Madaki; Mujaheed Muhammad ‘m’ 22yrs alias Driver of nasawa jahun,

Wakili said that during the arrests of the above-mentioned suspects, other accomplices escaped to an unknown destination while efforts are being intensified to make sure they are arrested and brought to book.

He also said that on Tuesday, 11th April 2023, a team of Operation Restores Peace (ORP) while on patrol within the nooks and crannies occupied by some men of the underworld at Mallan Goje, Nasarawa, and karofi area respectively all within Bauchi metropolitan arrested the following persons; Adamu Sirajo ‘m’ aged 25yrs alias Dan Baba; Sadiq Isah ‘m’ aged 20yrs; Nasiru Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 19yrs; Amir Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 20yrs; Ukasha Ladan ‘m’ aged 21yrs; Abdulkarim Mohammad ‘m’ aged 22yrs; Ibrahim Musa ‘m’ aged 17yrs alias Na ma’aiki; Abbas Usman ‘m’ aged 18yrs; Buhari Ahmad ‘m’ aged 19yrs; Safiyanu Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 20yrs all of them in Kangarke, Makwalla, and Karofin Madaki ward Bauchi respectively.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include; Three knives; four machetes; two sharp iron and one small Antler.

“Consequently, the command received a complaint from one Sadiq Bala ‘m’ aged 21yrs, a victim of Sara-suka who was later invited for an identification parade and he vividly identified one Ibrahim Musa ‘m’ aged 18yrs, Buhari Ahmad ‘m’ aged 18yrs and Abba Usman ‘m’ aged 18yrs to be amongst the thugs that amputated his right hand.

“Instantly, the suspects confessed to the allegation against them and were remorseful for their actions.

“In another development, the command acted on credible intelligence and arrested one Ishaka Aliyu (Gang Leader) ‘m’ 20yrs of Gwangwan ward Bauchi.

“Investigation reveals that the suspect mobilized his gang members of Sara-suka to attack one Bello Umar ‘m’ aged 20yrs of Tuji area Bauchi, stabbed him with a sharp knife in his abdomen, as a result, he sustained serious internal injury.

“The victim was rushed to the ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for medical attention.

“Subsequently, the following accomplices of Ishaka Aliyu were also arrested;
Lukman Hussaini ‘m’ aged 18yrs alias (Lukuku) of Gwabba; Ashiru Suleiman ‘m’ aged 25yrs alias (Kwado) of Emir’s drive; Yusuf Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 20yrs alias (Kiss) of Zango; Abdulrazak Hassan ‘m’ aged 19yrs alias (Zaki) of Zango and Musa Isa ‘m’ aged 18yrs alias (Feeder) of Zango

Wakili reiterated that efforts are being intensified to continuously sustain the raids and arrest their accomplices while during interrogation, all the suspects confessed to having partaken in the activities of thug and thuggery (Sara-suka) towards terrorizing the innocent citizens of the Bauchi metropolis and beyond.

The Command spokesperson said that all suspects will be charged in court while stating categorically that there is no hiding place for criminals and it shall continue to track them, arrest and prosecute them in accordance with the full dictates of the law.

The Command assured the general public of its duty towards maintaining law and order, providing adequate security of lives and property, preventing and detecting crimes, and enforcing the laws to preserve civil order in top gear.
