The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has taken to his Twitter handle that it is a traffic offence for drivers and riders to overtake from the right side, instead of the left side.
In a tweet tagged “TRAFFIC MATTER,” said, “I feel so sad and concerned when I see some drivers and riders overtaking from the right side, instead of the left side. It’s a traffic offence to do that. Most especially, Okada (Motorcycle) riders.
“Don’t be careless or reckless when you drive so that you don’t risk your life and the lives of other road users. We have noticed that road crashes account for high mortality rates (deaths) in Nigeria. You must drive to be alive. We love you all. Thanks.
“We need to go back to the basics. Driving schools must be accredited and monitored to do the right thing. No matter who you are, you must pass through the process, right from the driving school, exams, screening, etc., before you are certified to drive and be issued with a driving licence. That’s how it should be.
“There is no room for home delivery anymore. We need to be serious about it. The driving schools should help FRSC. On no account should DS issue a certificate to someone who has not been trained and found worthy to have a licence.
