Character Defect: Eze Expresses Pessimism In The APC Administration Over Tinubu’s Engagement Of Characteristically Flawed Elements Like The FCT Minister

…Opens a Floodgate of inconsistencies and cocktails attributable to Wike’s gruesomely depraved personage.

Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze says the likelihood is glaring, given prevailing circumstances and economic realities of the time, that President Tinubu and his administration may aimlessly be traversing a course in search for the freeway on the cul-de-sac.

In a statement made available to the media, the party Chief said a preference for democratic endeavor over authoritarian caprice is a fundamental attribute of any responsible society or government that wishes to impact its populace through policies and programs.

Speaking on the backdrop of untoward policies with the demolition spree targeted at innocent citizens in the FCT at a moment when the value of the naira has remained in a free fall, and the economy, is on a steady downward trend with resultant hardship on the citizenry, Eze noted that it smacks of sheer authoritarianism laced with deliberate wickedness for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to deploy the powers of his office to oppress the defenseless and perceived political adversaries in the guise of reformation.

He blamed the situation on President Tinubu for feigning ignorance of the moral depravity of the former Rivers Governor whose inconsistent penchants and notoriety in self-serving pursuits are public knowledge, in appointing him a Minister despite public opposition for fear of dishonesty, non-performance, and abuse of office which have been his stock in trade since his days as Obio/Akpor Council Chair.

Eze noted that character is key in selecting persons to hold public offices in civilized climes unlike Nigeria, and the differential is the reason inconsistent characters like Wike can be entrusted with a public office notwithstanding his bad standing in society. “This reality remains one of our major albatrosses”, he noted.

The party chief opened a floodgate of instances of Wike’s display of moral poverty, depraved personage, and irking character inconsistencies, describing his standard as below the minimum customarily prescribed for public servants in the lowest of societies.

According to Eze, in a publication on February 9, 2020, during a courtesy visit of Oyigbo Leaders to Wike, the Governor categorically stated that he wouldn’t impose any successor after his tenure. “I won’t impose a successor in Rivers, Wike insists”.

“I say it to Rivers people, I am not going to impose anybody on this state. I will not do it,”.

He went further to support why he would not impose a successor on the hapless people of Rivers State,
“You see what is happening in Edo State? Do you see what is happening in Anambra State? Even in Rivers State, did it not happen? Did it not happen? Somebody that Dr Peter Odili created, did it not happen? Do you think, I will suffer the same fate? It will not happen!

With such declaration in a public glare, Eze queried the current contention between Wike and Governor Fubara where the former stated that he bought nomination forms for all elected public servants from Rivers State including the Governorship expression of interest and nomination form for Gov. Fubara.

Eze went further to highlight that when Wike was asked by an interviewer- BBC Pidgin if he would ever contemplate leaving the PDP for the APC, Wike reacted in shock and said:

“Leave for where? I presently have malaria and if is it cancer I will go and look for it.

“Why are you talking like this? I have malaria that can be treated easily and I will go and look for cancer that will kill me immediately.

“Is the APC a party? A party that has killed Nigerians? No way, I can’t leave the PDP for such a party. Any fight we engage in the PDP is inside the PDP and that is where I will fight. If they like, they injure me there or I injure them but I won’t ever run away. Though I know they cannot injure me.

“That is where we will fight our fight but to leave the PDP that has common malaria for the APC that has cancer, no, it can’t happen.

Wike went further to highlight the level of cancer that APC is currently suffering from, “See, let me tell you, the APC has stage four cancer and when doctors say you have stage four cancer, just tell your God that it has happened as you can never survive. That is what the APC has. So it will be impossible for me to defect to catch their cancer.”

It may be proper to settle that cancer in the party compelled Tinubu, Senator Ganduje, and their cohorts to resolve against all sound reasonings to dissolve the Rivers APC duly elected State Exco and replace it with handpicked Wike boys who are not even members of APC, to help cure cancer diagnosed by ‘Dr’ Wike, not knowing that the action is, to say the least, preparing the party for interment.

In case the two inconsistencies of Wike above are not enough ground for why a reasonable administration should not engage elements of his sort, let us now consider what Wike said on March 27, 2023.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, Wike said he won’t hold any grudge against the Rivers governor-elect if he discards his counsels.

“He is not there to serve me. We are there to serve the people. The problem leaders have is that you supported someone to be in office; what you did, was it to help him succeed or fail?” Wike said.

“You want him to be coming to my house to take orders why? Once you have left office, you give yourself that respect and say ‘I have done my own’.

If he wants my advice, it is okay; if he doesn’t, it is okay. But for me to begin from day to day, telling him you must do this, you must do that, that is not acceptable. That is why people fail.”

Surely the Guinness World Record needs to consider President Tinubu for the outstanding Award for appointing such an unstable character into his administration and assigning him such a sensitive portfolio as a Minister of FCT.

Again, let us listen to Wike as he says he can never accept to be a Minister.

I’m not interested in any ministerial position – Gov Wike insists – Published on August 16, 2022.

“Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said he does not intend to become a minister after his tenure as governor.

This is despite reports that a ministerial position is one of the demands from his camp as part of the conditions to work for the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

Wike clarified the commissioning of the newly constructed VIP lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa on Tuesday.

He said “Only one person can be a minister from a state, I will not be a minister. I will not. I am not a liability, Rivers State is an asset.

“So if you don’t want to win an election, it’s your business. I’m not the one running the election.

“He who wears the shoes knows where it pinches him”.

Eze is Described as mysterious the characteristics considered by those who looked at an element like Wike and considered him fit for the role of a Minister. Wike has turned the country into a laughing stock.

A man whose statement in the morning is inconsistent with his comment on the same subject in the afternoon. God help Nigeria.

Let us look further as Wike unfolds his next plans for 2027 which he will change when the time draws near.

“They carry all kinds of information, and they say, oh, Wike will run against Tinubu, how? some people dont have a character at all. So you look at me after being FCT minister, I will go and collect forms under which party if it is APC, I collect the form of APC and look at who I want to run against; I mean, people don’t just have character or I went to PDP, they give me form, I want to run against Tinubu, these are political tyrants callous who have no character, I have character,” Wike said.

You may take this to the bank that by 2025 Wike will attack Tinubu and his cohorts in such a way they may not recover from the shock.

Listen to what he thinks about Tinubu and his style of administration.

By 2019, he stated,
Rivers cannot be like Lagos – Wike dares Amaechi.

“Rivers and Lagos States are not the same. No single man can dictate what happens in Rivers State. We have different ethnic groups and cultures”, Wike said. Implying that Tinubu who Wike is referring to is nothing but a Dictator who determines who governs Lagos State even if it entails employing undemocratic strategies

Wike recently challenged the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Fubara,
“If they are impeaching you, did you call me?

Assuming I’m the one who plotted it, did you say, ‘Sir, they want to impeach me?’

Is that why you will go and send people to burn the hallowed chambers?

Is impeachment done in one day? Is it a one-day affair?

Then, you raised ethnic politics. We have never had it like this before,” Wike said. Go and look at the appointments so far made by Wike even as a Minister if eighty percent are not from one tribe

Eze maintained that his good friend, Nyesom Wike is a very confused character and as he continues to boast that he has conquered both APC and PDP, the party chief counseled him to be guided by the Holy Book of Jeremiah 9:23-24 King James Version (KJV):

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercises lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”

I just pray and hope that Tinubu and APC through the appointment of Wike have not entered one Chance Bus. The future will educate us accordingly.
