The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has said that Nigeria police have been accepted as a profession where only certified members of NIPR operate and perform excellently.
Speaking at the Police Public Relations Officers conference and seminar with the theme “Enhanced Strategy Communication: Panacea for Effective Policing and Peaceful Coexistence in Nigeria” at the Havila Towers Hotel, Uyo, on Monday, Adejobi reaffirmed the Nigeria Police’s commitment to promoting professionalism and abide by the rules governing every profession, most especially public relations.
“At this juncture, it is imperative to mention that the PR Department of the police has never had it as good as we all feel and perceive the goodies of quality leadership under the present IGP Kayode Egbetokun-led administration of the Nigeria Police Force.
“I am so optimistic that more good largesse, like budget lines, fine official cars, smart studios, more police radio stations, and sophisticated gadgets to work with, are on the way for the effective and efficient work performance of my PROs across the country. It’s achievable, Adejobi reiterated.
Adejobi said that the conference will provide a fertile ambiance within the next few days for over 90 police image managers across commands, and zones, as well as its liaisons in tactical units and formations, to cross-fertilise ideas and evolve policies that will help sculpt the communication tactics towards delivering better policing services to the good people of this great country.
“You will agree with me that communication is pivotal in every human relationship, and it is the linchpin that binds us all as we continually strive for societal harmony. The power of words crafted with strategic intent transcends barriers and fosters solidarity among diverse communities. Allow me to echo the words of Margaret Wheatley, who rightly said, “Without conversation, there is no action.”.
He commended the leadership of NIPR for their support and zeal to strengthen the PR profession in the police and appreciated the resource persons and partners who have been so supportive in putting the event together and making it a reality and success.
Among the dignitaries at the opening ceremony were IGP Egbetokun, Governor of Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno, Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom, Akon Etim Eyakenyi, Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, Police Service Commission Chairman, Solomon Arase, Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Udeme Otong, State Commissioners, National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chris Isiguzo, and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku.
