The Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has just approved that Galaxy Backbone carry out the upgrade of ICT Infrastructure to boost the provision of Local Area Network (LAN) and other digital services to Federal Government Ministries, Departments & Agencies. This approval was disclosed today at the weekly FEC meeting.
This feat was realized through the efforts of the Minister of Communications & Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami in his strides to make Nigeria a digital nation in the near future.
Galaxy Backbone (GBB), an agency under the Federal Ministry of Communications & Digital Economy, is the Digital, Network & Shared services provider to the government.
GBB has over the past 10 years provided connectivity and network services to government institutions and has generally met the connectivity and digital services needs of these institutions.
With this approval by FEC, GBB’s quality of service will greatly improve and the challenges around Local Area Network (LAN) which have for too long constituted major impediment for these Agencies e-governance and digital transformation will now be dealt with.
