This became necessary to preserve public order and safeguard the lives and property of all our beloved citizens throughout this festive period.
A statement on Monday, 25th December 2023 signed by the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said that the Commissioner of Police given the prevailing security concerns within the State, has placed a Ban on all forms of Processions and Religious/Traditional ceremonies in public places, in the name of any celebration. This ban became necessary to prevent any breakdown of law and order that may be capable of disrupting the peace and harmony currently being enjoyed in the state.
The statement read, “Furthermore, the CP has reiterated the fact that the use of tricycles, popularly known as (Keke Napep), within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, is prohibited on the 25th and 26th December 2023, and on the 1st January 2024. He has also placed a complete ban on motorcycle operators also known as (Okada or Going) in all 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State from 25th December 2023 to 3rd January 2024 and still maintains that the total ban on commercial motorcycle operations popularly known as “okada” within Jos and Bukuru metropolis is still in force.
