Child Labour And Human Trafficking Are Barbaric, Dehumanising, And Evil – FPRO

Human trafficking and child labour are criminal offences in Nigeria, and they are punishable.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this.

He said that these offences are not only criminal but also evil, dehumanising, and vicious.

“Stop them, and say no to these criminal acts. They are alien to us and our culture.

“We are aware and used to the concept of “esprit de Corps” as part of our Africianism. We are black, we are nice. Thanks”.

The Child Rights Act 2003 prohibits the engagement of children in any form of labour that is detrimental to their development, setting the minimum age for employment at 15 years. It however provides that children of 14 years can be engaged if it does not interfere with the children’s education.

While on Human trafficking, Section 34 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) guarantees the right to the dignity of the human person thus prohibiting the subjection of any person to slavery and servitude.
